"Back in the Day" Tuesdays

Today one of our vendors complimented me on my beautiful handwriting. It made me laugh because it brought back how that came to be.

Due to this, I got this idea to dedicate Tuesdays to stories about my childhood. Because it is actually my childhood that has made me, me! Some stories might be downright weird, some might make you scratch your head and some might make you laugh out loud. Whichever of the ones that might happen, I know that it was a hilarious ride and I am happy that I actually want to share a few stories.

How did I get to have such beautiful handwriting you might ask?

Well, growing up, I had downright horrible handwriting. Everytime my parents went to a teacher, parent conference that was their only complaint. "Faith is a great student. She listens well, participates and gets along with all her classmates, but she needs to work on her handwriting skills."

Each time after these meetings my parents would tell me, "Faith, don't rush too much. Slow down when you are doing your homework. Write neatly."

It went in and right out my ears. I continued to be a sloppy mess.

When I was in sixth grade and my new teacher had the same complaint my dad decided that obviously the talking wasn't working for me. They came home after that meeting and my dad asked me how old I was. I began to cry. I knew what that meant. It meant that I was going to get a spanking. I never bothered to lie. It was a trick question. My dad knew how old I was and if I lied (I learned from one of my smart sisters) I just got an extra spanking. I said, "Ten years old."

I got ten spankings on my behind that day.

The next day at school, my handwriting suddenly changed and soon I was getting all sorts of compliments on how beautiful my handwriting was.

My handwriting is so great that when I did my place cards and the addresses on the invitation's envelopes, people thought I hired a professional to do them.

The next time my parents had a parent, teacher conference there was no complaint about my handwriting but my teacher did mention that I talked to fast. When my parents got home and they told me this my heart sunk. Another spanking? My dad smiled and said, "Your teacher said you talk too fast but you got that from me. You can't change that!"

Haha. And this is how I got the handwriting I have today! I guess spankings do work! :)

The Weekend

On Saturday, I was suppose to go to the hubby's rugby game but my little sister asked if I would watch my nephew and since I am slightly obsessed with him, I quickly said yes.

Now that he is 8 months old, he is stronger and louder. Boy, is he loud! He is crawling and standing with some assistance of anything he can hold on to. My sister brought his playpen which I must say was a saver. He spent most of his time on the couch, climbing on me, and punching my face BUT as soon as he started diving for the floor, I had no choice but to place him in his playpen.

My parents dropped my little sister off to college and on their way back home they dropped by to say hi. It was awesome to see them and to watch my parents with my nephew. Makes you kind of see how your parents were with you as a child, although, my mother did say something to the effect of worrying about your grandchild even more than your own child. She says that she loves her children but the love you feel for your grandchild is very different. I get it. It is your child's child.

Here are tons of pictures I took of the little love of my life. Tell me the first one doesn't just kill you!

I think he was getting annoyed with me taking pictures.

He started getting better with it and the flash stopped bothering him too much!

He makes me want a little boy!

Saturday night, we headed to Saratoga for Travers weekend. This is a huge weekend in Saratoga. Everyone and their mama is out! People spend all day & night at the track. It is pretty eventful and a lot of fun.

Here is a picture of me drinking a margarita before heading out:

and of course my car pic!

********************************************************************************
Sunday afternoon, we headed to Turning Stone for a couple of hours. When we do not have anything to do we just drive there. It is less than a 2 hr ride and is a lot of fun. I think what amazes me more than anything is seeing people spend soooo much money and lose it all. How in the world do they do that? I would cry hysterically and beg for my money back. But they always don't have an expression. I sometimes wonder if they realize that there groceries for the year is gone.

My car pics!

Tried to get the hubby's gorgeous arms in the pic! ;)

You can tell I begged the hubby to take this pic of the both of us. He was in a "I don't want to take any pictures today" mood.

All in all, it was a good weekend. Hope you all had good weekends too!

Getting to Know You

1. If you accidentally knick a car in a parking lot..Do you leave a note or do you get the heck out of there?

I would leave a note. There are just way too many cameras out there to do anything else now-a-days. Knowing my luck it would be all over the news with me running out of there, lol. Besides, if there aren't any cameras, God is watching. That thought alone would make me leave a note.

2. Love your body or plastic surgery?

I love my body when I am at my ideal weight. I am not a fan of plastic surgery, at least for myself.

3. What about your favorite blog(s) continues to drive you back?

I love reading about my favorite blogs lives. I like feeling that I know them & that they could actually be my friends in real life. I like the fact that you can follow blogs that you relate to. It is great "meeting" all these amazing people that you have tons in common with. The blog world is an amazing world!

4. What percent of your blog is BS just to make your life seem more interesting than it really is?

Ha! My blog doesn't make me very interesting at all. To be honest, I am surprised people actually follow me! 100% of my blog is real!

5. If you had to give up one type of meat for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Steak. I don't eat it that often so I won't miss it.

6. How often do you eat out?

We get a break from cooking on Saturdays. It doesn't have to be grand. Sometimes MacDonalds, pizza, or we go out to a nice restaurant. Anything beats cooking on a Saturday evening.

7. Skinny jeans or boot cut jeans?

Skinny jeans are the best!

8. If you caught your spouse cheating would you forgive, divorce, or plan your kill?

I would kill him! OK, I would want to kill him! I hate the thought of divorce. I am one of those people who truly does not believe in divorce. I don't really know what I would do, to be honest. I can say right now that I would leave him in a heartbeat but unless I am in the situation I can't really say what I would do. I am realistic enough to say that I hope to never be in that situation to find out.

.The Smell of Fall Shopping is in the Air.

Now that my favorite season is right around the corner I love going online to check out items that I would love to add to my closet. During the fall, I love boots tucked into leggings or jeans and cute skirts with boots.

So on my search I went on good ole Victoria's Secret to see what the new trends are, and I was surprised that I liked this one:

But even I know that I am not cute enough to convince the hubby that I need these $498 Frye boot. So I continued looking and my eyes fell on these beauties. I think it helps that Adriana Lima is rocking them. She makes anything look glam.

A bit better in price these Steven by Steve Madden beauties are $289. Although, I would love to add them to my shoe collection, I know that I can continue the search and find look-a-likes at a better deal. You have to try to be a Frugal Fashionista sometimes.

If I can't find anything I love, I might have to convince the hubby just how cute I am! ;)

.More of my humble abode.

This is our house for the moment. There will be some little things done here and there. I am on the search for paintings and decor ideas that will work in our home. I spend a lot of time watching HGTV but I am not finding the things I absolutely love at the price range we can afford. So I am holding out a little bit until I find things I absolutely love. I would rather spend money on things I love rather than just filling out a wall because I hate that it is empty. Hoping Pottery Barn will have a sale soon! :)

This is where the magic happens. (I truly hope that, that didn't put all type of naughty things in your mind!)

Yes, the hubby did approve that hanging on the wall. Promise.

That's our calendar filled with our wedding pictures. Much? Maybe.

Pictures of our dining room:

The hubby still needs to move the china cabinet a tad bit over to the left. The delivery men were lame.

Living room. Can't wait to do more in here.

And since I know what kitty (yes, I am aware he is 3 yrs old) lovers my fabulous followers are ... cough, cough, Eve, cough, here is a picture of my Fella chilling out in his favorite place. He was sleeping. Such a bad mommy.

Our master bedroom is a work in process so I am going to hold off a little bit until it starts coming together. The guestroom and office also needs some more love so I will share those rooms again once they start coming together. Hopefully sooner than later.

I'm in tears ...

Yeah, yeah, we all know that it doesn't take much for me to cry but I am 95% positive that you would be in tears too! I cried about every 15 minutes of the movie. I'm serious. Ask the hubby. He thinks it is ridiculous and had the nerve to laugh at me.

Goodness, I adore Sandra Bullock!

I am hoping that just by the pictures alone you know what the movie is but if not ... it's The Blind Side! Absolutely amazing and the best part is that it is a true story! Go order it! I promise you will cry and love every moment!

What is your favorite healthy snack?

I have grown to love almonds and string cheese! My girlfriend Sasha (below) turned me on to them!

When she first asked if I would like some at a rugby game I thought, who in the world eats cheese and nuts? She is also my friend who LOVES celery with cream cheese and peanut butter in her jello. Yes, she does!

Imagine my surprise when I realized that the mixture was heavenly. So good AND filling! It is like cheese goes with almonds the way cheese goes with wine and crackers! :)

So head outside and pick up the things below. And eat it just the way you eat cheese and crackers. Together.

And if you do not like it, well, I just might be getting a weird taste for snacks. If all else fails you can always buy a bag of these. They are delish (as I am sure you all know) and don't upset anything but your waistline.

So I am looking for some healthy snack options. Please share!

Spoiler - The New Design Star Is:

I liked Emily but I kinda wanted Michael to win. I thought his show was going to be a bit different than some of the shows on HGTV.

BUT I can't deny that she has great style & I will for sure tune into her show when it premieres.

If you watched the show ... were you happy with the outcome?

Getting to Know You Sunday

I've decided to do this today because I would like my followers friends to get to know ME just a little more.

1. If you could host a Reality TV show, which one would it be?

Project Runway!!! I would get to dress fabulous all the time. I want that job!

2. Do you put your seatbelt on before or after you start the car?

Before. Mom didn't raise no fool!

3. Shave or hair removal cream?

Shave. I don't care for the hair removal creams at all. They stink!

4. What's your favorite feature in a house?

I love two sinks in the bathroom and a bathroom in the master! Wish we had it! :)

5. What is your favorite "Fall" scent?

Hmm, I don't have one. This is strange because fall is my favorite season. Does the change in the leaves have a scent? Or a change in the weather? If it does, that is my favorite "Fall" scent! ;)

6. What tv show are you looking forward to seeing the most this Fall??

Jersey Shore is back so not looking forward to any show right now, lol.

7. Personal Shopper or Personal Chef?

Ooooh I would love a personal shopper!

8. What is the first word that comes to mind when you think of "Fall"?

Shopping! Who doesn't get excited for fall shopping?!

.Picture Heavy Weekend.

On Thursday, we left NY @ 2pm and headed to Toronto. It was a long ride and I refrained from taking car pictures. Yeah, I know. No fun. I napped instead.

When we reached Toronto it was 730pm and we were starving. We quickly checked in and walked to a nearby restaurant called Moxie's and had dinner.

On Friday, it was wedding day and the hubby was quite busy. It gave me a lot of time to just relax before the day really began. I took a lot of pictures of him getting ready.

Ha! Look at how excited he was!

We're ready!

Wedding:

It was a beautiful wedding and we had an amazing time! Congrats James and Norina, we wish you love and happiness in your future lives together! :)

*********************************************************************************
p.s. We also learned that the Taco Bells in Toronto serve french fries. I found it so odd. I can't imagine having fries with a burrito.
