Working on our Home.

- A tree in front of our house that I do not remember seeing last year. What a pleasant surprise.

Last weekend, we made it one of our goals to work on our front yard. Although it is not a fun project there's something really satisfying to me to work on our home. We bought the house in November 2014 and with all the stress of 2015 the upkeep of our house was not priority. Now that things have slowed down considerably we are making efforts to put time into the home we love.

For the past few weekends we've been working hard on both the back and front yard because it really, really needs the attention. We're not even close to done but it already looks so much better. I have plans to make the backyard a place that one wants to spend beautiful days in.

We put on our favorite tunes of all genres and just worked. I made sure to take frequent breaks (took pictures!) that way I could work longer. If I hadn't I wouldn't have been able to handle the work that it entailed. Granted, I didn't do nearly as much as Sean did but that was to be expected. I also made sure to pop some allergy medicine that way I didn't have the urge to pull my nose off or scratch my eyes out and it turned out to be a really productive weekend.






It was also pretty neat to hear our neighbors all around us working hard on their homes too. It felt like a little community and I'm really enjoying it. If someone told me a few years ago that this is how I would enjoy a beautiful, sunny weekend I would have laughed. But here I am and I'm finding that I'm treasuring days like this so much more than before.

A Little Curb Appeal

Today the weather was absolutely gorgeous. We decided to use it for our advantage since we've been trying to get the front of the house looking better for a few weeks, but because of the cold and non-stop rain we weren't able to.

Last Spring, we put in two new plants but they were only good for about 6 weeks. It was pitiful so we knew we had to pull them up and replace them with annual plants.

We headed to Lowe's today and picked up mulch, three new plants and some brick.

We are not at all handy but we are pretty proud of our hard work today! In a few weeks, I know it is going to be beautiful with all the flowers, etc.

Look at how upset Fella looks that he can't enjoy the beautiful weather. Sorry buddy, you're an indoor cat and you will stay that way!


We deserved a great dinner after all the hard work so hubby grilled some steak and I roasted some broccoli and cooked yellow rice. Yummy in my tummy!


Productive weekend but I'm exhausted. Time to relax before Monday gets here!

Good things about Spring ...

Minus my horrible allergies, I really love Spring. I love the weather and I love how it makes flowers bloom. Take my front lawn for instance. Do you remember when I posted how the hubs and I worked on our front lawn. If you don't remember look here! They are growing! I can't wait to see when the flowers are in full bloom! To be honest, I think some of them actually need a trim but I have no clue how to do that. Aaaah, the fun things I get to do in a few weeks!

Productive Weekend

Sean and I were contemplating whether we should paint the guest room or do the front lawn. Sean wanted to paint and I wanted to do the front lawn. I figured we were just going to paint (no biggie) but Sean surprised me when we walked into Lowes and he went to the gardening section. YAY!

Anywho, we picked up mulch, shears, grass seed, top soil and two plants. We had to pick up two plants because my mother in law was sure that two of the plants that the previous owner planted was "dead, dead, dead." Well, when Sean pulled it up it was alive, alive, alive. AHHHHH!!! I wasn't very happy. I was sure to tell Sean's mom too! :) She took it well.

I took some before and after pictures that way you can see what we did. This is the first home we have ever owned so we aren't exactly experts in the area. We just kinda went with the flow so if something we did isn't quite right just (lightly and kindly) tell me. Seriously, I am the girl who never raked in her whole life until she bought this house in March! I am new to all of this and am kinda liking it.

We are so excited to have our starter home. Since we both have never owned homes before this, we wanted something small that would be easy to maintain and definately not a fixer upper. I am not handy and Sean isn't either, lol. I am looking forward to decorating and sharing pics as we get done!
