I’ve always been a morning person. My mom knew it and because of that I was always the first person she would wake in the morning. I was that child that would just jump right out of bed without any resistance. Since I can remember, I’ve always welcomed a new morning. There is just something about all the possibilities that a brand new day brings. Almost like starting fresh daily.
Even now, as an adult, I am not a snoozer. My alarm goes off and I get up immediately. However, weekend mornings are my favorite because you can really relish it. I usually only drink coffee on Saturday or Sunday but it is so nice to begin the day with a mug of coffee either hot or cold depending on the season. I also enjoy spending more time making breakfast and this particular morning called for chocolate chip pancakes with bacon. Sean on bacon duty and me on pancake duty.
Some weekend mornings, when I'm not really in the mood to make a big breakfast, it's all about the bagels from our favorite local bagel shop. They have the best bagels in our area even better than some spots I know in the city. My go-to is a sesame bagel with butter while Sean swears by their everything bagel with eggs, bacon and cheese.
Sean & I take a seat in our dining area. In the background you can hear Alexa providing a news recap upon request, usually requested by Sean. If it were up to me, Alexa would only play music. It is usually around this time that we start planning our day if we don't already have plans. Some weekends it’s a Netflix & chill weekend (often rare) and some weekends it’s a road trip to see friends or family. Either way, when we can, we try to make it a point to start the morning nice and slow that way we can welcome and be prepared for the hectic that may come later on in the day. Slow mornings, on the weekend, will always be a favorite.

ReplyDeleteCan you rub some of your morning person ways off on me?!! Ugh, I am such a snoozer. But, we do love our slow morning weekends and making a great breakfast. Now I am want pancakes and bacon! Is it Saturday yet?! Sierra ~

I am a morning person too. My husband not so much! Thankfully my kids took after me and get up for school without a fuss. Glad you and your hubby got to enjoy some quiet time together. I love blueberry bagels toasted with cream cheese.
ReplyDeleteTotally envious you're such a morning person. I wish I was more like that!
ReplyDeleteAnd, your weekend mornings sound like a dream!!
I love slow mornings too. Your food looks delicious. I can't say I'm always a morning person. I hit snooze a TON during the week, but I let myself wake up whenever on the weekends (early or late) and putz around until the afternoon - unless I have something specific planned.
