Last weekend we went to Philadelphia’s annual South Street spring festival for the very first time. I think that in this year alone, we've gone to Philly more than we have in the last almost five years of living in PA. Let's take a second to wonder how we've been here for almost FIVE YEARS! Anyway, the festival is always held on the first weekend in May and it’s a FREE outdoor festival that brings thousands to South Street for a day of food, music and fun. We wanted to do something fun for Cinco de Mayo but we had no idea what to do. Sean googled and boom, we had plans! In true basic fashion, I made grand plans to indulge in a frozen margarita. But we won't talk about the fact that I never did get that margarita. We did get Mexican food so I'll call that a win!
The entire South Street was closed down and about 20-30 restaurants served food & drinks outside. There was live music, art vendors and of course tons of food and drinks to enjoy. I don’t know how we had never heard of it before but now I know what we’ll be doing every first weekend in May! After the festival we went to Sugar House casino & continued to have the most fun day.
Mexican food for lunch at Las Bugambilias. Yum, yum!
Biggest flower crown we ever did see :)
Checking out the vendors
Who you gonna call?
Sugar House casino fun
I hope you had a great week and that you have a wonderful weekend! ♥
South street is such a fun time!! I had no idea they did this but need to look into it for next year. I would call at least getting Mexican a win. Sierra~Beautifully Candid
ReplyDeleteAh, the memories!! My husband and I met on South Street. He's from Philly and I'm from N.J. Glad you had a great time!
ReplyDeleteThis looked like so much fun!
ReplyDeleteIt really was! Looking forward to it next year too :)
DeleteUsually my Feedly alerts me when someone has a new post up and it didn't pop yours up at all until today :\ . I wonder why that is?>:(
ReplyDeleteI've never been sure how far away from Philly you actually lived? I did wonder why you weren't there more often - haha or Pittsburgh - but that's probably on the other side of the state?
The South Street Spring Festival looks like a lot of fun, and Mexican food is ALWAYS a win. Food and music is all you need. I loved these photos of you and Cinthia, and I'm glad you guys had a perfect day. Loved all the photos
Looks like a really fun time! There are always farmers markets and street fairs going on here, yet it's been so long since I've gone to one. I WILL go to one this summer!
ReplyDeleteThis looked like so much fun! I think they have something similar in Baltimore but in the 16 years I have lived in the DC area, I have never done it. I need to remedy that "with the quickness" as a friend of mine would say :-).
ReplyDeleteIf your city does it def. check it out ... if not just for the food! Haha. One of my sisters uses that phrase too!
