To celebrate, Sean and I headed to the city with my girlfriend and her husband. It was good timing as they had just celebrated their 12th anniversary a week prior; so we had another occasion to celebrate!
We arrived to the city several hours earlier than Stacy and Bill so Sean took it upon himself to find free parking. Sean tends to be very lucky when it comes to getting free parking in the city but not this time. Would Sean take no for an answer? No. After an hour of driving around Sean finally found parking. There was a lot of, "we're wasting time!" from me of course.
After he found parking, we explored around where we were staying because our room at the World Center Hotel was not ready yet. We happened upon this beautiful art mural and I couldn’t help but to stop and get some pictures. When I got home, I did a little research on the mural and found out that Chinon Maria is the artist and created the mural to raise awareness for unity, diversity and the refugee crisis. The mural can be found near the 9/11 Memorial.
When Bill and Stacy arrived we checked out the 9/11 Memorial as Sean and Bill had not yet seen it. It is truly such a somber experience and you really feel sadness all around you. But I recommend everyone to see it because it is a beautiful tribute.
Sean was adamant that he had to see the Charging Bull and apparently he was not the only one!
After that we had lunch at Bill’s Bar & Burger and then checked into our room.
Our room had such a great view and it was such a pleasant surprise.
I wish I had taken more pictures but I'll admit that I was so busy getting video!
We got a few drinks at the hotel bar where we decided where to have dinner and then did a little more exploring.
I just loved this pineapple table!
We saw glimpses of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island which always makes me smile.
Me and Stacy's favorite tree, the Weeping Willow.
Stacy and I left the guys to do a little shopping in the city.
We returned to our hotel just in time to get ready for dinner at Antica Ristorante.
All smiles and ready to celebrate!
Our meals were delicious!
We did a little pub crawl in Tribeca and had drinks at several places but I can only remember the Roxy Hotel and The Django.
I always can't believe that these phone booths are still around!
And I can't believe he touched it with his hands and put it to his ear.
Roxy Hotel/The Django.
This was my second time here and I can't wait to return.
Here's my post from my first time in case you're interested.
We had a really great time and I'm looking forward to our next adventure in the city together.

Fabulous Birthday fun you had! More blessings to you and many more healthy and prosperous years to you.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, I truly appreciate it :)
DeleteI'm shocked that you two even drive into the city, instead of taking a train or a bus! I would probably have an anxiety attack.
ReplyDeleteThe murals are lovely- I love graffiti art (usually).
What is the charging bull all about?
That IS an amazing view. I want that pineapple table too.
Loved seeing all your photos of your birthday!
Haha, Sean loves driving in. We've taken the bus into the city but feel it's a lot of wasted time so we prefer to drive in.
DeleteSo do I!
Honestly, I have no idea, haha.
It was such an incredible view. Wish I had taken better pictures! And seriously, the pineapple table was so lovely. The pineapple actually represents hospitality in the hospitality world so it would be perfect in a home.
Thank you!!
Happy birthday - 37 looks good on you (you got that good black don't crack!)
ReplyDeleteThe memorial will gut you, especially when it list the mother and her unborn child (I was able to inadvertently capture a picture from the memorial with this tribute).
Everyone wants to see the bull! It's always busy.
Well some years are good and some years not so good, but I'm happy that you're here and that you continue to share via this blog! Hugs!
The mural is beautiful and I've never stayed at a hotel downtown. That looks lovely.
Thank you so much, that made me laugh and smile!
DeleteIt really does gut you. After all these years, I still have a hard time wrapping my mind around it all.
I had no idea about the bull, haha.
Thank you so much, I'm happy that I'm here too! :) I hope that the blog will be something I continue until I can't.
