The amount of pictures I took in Mexico are beyond ridiculous but I don't think any of you expect less. I could not control myself. The first time Sean and I went to Mexico, I had a $50.00 point and shoot. Phone cameras weren't like they are now and let's just say that those pictures did not capture Mexico's beauty at all. So this time around when I would take a picture, I'd smile because it came pretty darn close. Because of this I could not stop snapping away. Get ready for several posts on Mexico because ... pictures!
Last November, Eric sent a group text asking if we wanted to go to Mexico. With no hesitation we responded with a YES! There were discussions on where to go and we decided on Cancun.
When we learned that Joey was coming on the trip too we thought it would be a good opportunity to introduce our oldest niece to traveling. She often hears of places we've gone and now that she's 9 we figured she could go a few days without crying or feeling too homesick. We asked Sean's sister if it would be OK and she said yes and then we asked Nadiyah. She was ecstatic and immediately asked when we were going.
We made sure to keep her excited for the months to come. We made a big deal about her getting her passport and all the stamps she would get for every country she visits. We bought her the cutest suitcase and gave her homework about Mexico. When we were boarding the plane to leave Mexico she said that she can't wait to travel all over the world and is excited for all the places she will visit when she is older. She also demanded that we take her on all our future trips. Hmmm, we'll see about that!
I'll admit that bringing a child with us on vacation is quite a different experience and surprisingly I really enjoyed it! So many people thought that she was our child and it was funny when she would say we were her aunt and uncle and they would tell her how lucky she was. Because we were with a kid we were able to get through lines quicker and went to bed earlier which meant that we woke up earlier as well. That wasn't so bad as it meant that we had more of our days to enjoy.
This trip was all about relaxing and I think it's the first one that I didn't need a vacation from! It was also the first one where I wasn't ready to come home. Usually when we are nearing the end of a trip, I'm ready to get home. This often happens on the fifth day which is why we're never anywhere more than five days. This time around I could have done several more days.
The beach. The ocean. The hammocks. The food. The relaxation. The sunrises and sunsets. The fun. The service. The amazing company. I want to do it all over again. The exact same way.
Here's a few pictures in the meantime. Trust me, there's a lot more pictures to share
but even I'm a bit overwhelmed going through all of them.
We were on the first floor and this was our view from our balcony.
Colleen was on the 9th floor and this was her incredible view from her balcony.
I'll share more details of where we stayed in a future post.
I don't know anyone who likes to be in front and behind the camera as much as our niece so trust me I took advantage of it this trip! Any picture you see of me this recap she most likely took it. Sean said we should take her on all our trips for this reason alone, haha. He'd do anything to not have to take pictures.
Lame ;).
I hope you all had wonderful weekends! ♥

Oh my gosh, this looks absolutely amazing! That water! And the blue skies! And palm trees! I want to get on a plane right now. We went to Mexico for our honeymoon, in March, and I think it was such a great time of year to go! And that's one lucky niece you have!!
ReplyDeleteYour pics are so crisp and perfect! I bet the weather was quite perfect. we went there in summer and it was so so HOT, which was okay except we couldn't wear clothes!! LOL> What an awesome vacation, and so cool that you brought your niece. I can't believe you are ready to come home after five days! Not me! Yes, I miss my bed and my house, but I'm rarely ready for the vacation to end.
ReplyDeleteSounds like the most perfect trip! A vacation that doesn't need a vacation when you return... THE BEST!
ReplyDeleteCannot wait to see more of your pics.
I smiled the whole time reading and looking at the pictures. Just the beautiful sunshine, skies, and water warmed my soul.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures! Looks like such an awesome time! Can't wait to see more pictures.
