My dad is on Facebook ....

And I'm not his friend.

I just can't be his friend on Facebook.

When did it become OK for our parents to actually get caught up on technology?

Maybe one day, I will request to be his friend or accept his friend request, but not today.

Sorry Pops! I know, you know, I still love you much!

  1. Ha! I am always reluctant to add family! The more on my list, the less I am on FB! I am sure he understands :)

  2. Seriously it IS a problem. I do not like my parents on FAcebook plus they're on ALL THE TIME. Since they skipped growing up w/ the internet they're making up for lost time by staying on FB forever!

  5. My mom is on there and sometimes I regret accepting her friend request because she bugs me on there lol. My grandma, who I barely know and am not close to at all, is on there as well and posts stupid stuff on my wall, especially now that I'm pregnant. I contemplate blocking her all the time! Sounds terrible, but I don't love that fact that my entire family is on there. You're smart to not accept your dad's request :P

  7. my dad doesn't even know how to use a mouse so I won't have to worry about him but mom is on facebook. i don't mind it. keep in mind that with the privacy controls you can make it so that he sees none of your posts and has limited access to EVERYTHING! Your page will be so boring to him he won't even look.

  8. Frugalista is exactly right! You can customize and limit what each person "sees". That way, you can accept and still be that good daughter but secretly there is stuff he will never know about. Bwhahahaha.

  12. That is funny. I have an aunt that is my friend, but most of her content is blocked. I just did not want to hurt her feelings.

  14. I'm friends with my parents on Facebook! I figure if I wouldn't want my parents to see it, I probably shouldn't be doing it, no matter how old I am :)

  15. @Sarah: hahaha, nothing horrible on my facebook ... just something about parents being on it throws me off ... i just don't like it. for some reason i just can't get over the fact that my dad is using the internet, lol. but if he went on myspace i think i would go crazy, even i don't myspace!

i would be his friend one day ... i'm sure ... just need to wrap my head around the fact that HE actually knows how to use the internet, lol.

  19. My dad begged me to create a page for him and I did. Ask me how many times he's logged on in the last year? Twice. Both times at my house, after asking me what his password was. *lol* Come on! Friend your dad! =)

  23. so funny. i'm dreading the day when my parents sign up for facebook. Thank God for privacy settings. I'll just put them on limited profile. That might be an option for you if your dad keeps harassing you to accept his friendship :-)
