Scenes from New Years Eve.

Sean and I usually go out to dinner on New Years Eve but this year for the first time in the longest while we decided not to do so.

Last year, we made reservations to have dinner at a popular restaurant and the service was just not great. Our food came out cold and we waited such a long time for that cold food. In the end, it was actually more annoying than fun and so this year we made different plans. The plan was for us to cook dinner at home, then go to one of Sean's co-workers home for a little New Years Eve gathering and then Broadway Social for some dancing.

We decided on a menu of steak topped with green peppers, mushrooms & onions, mashed potatoes from scratch and baked broccoli. There was of course wine for me and Jameson for Sean. It was delicious and actually a lot of fun to prepare our last dinner of the year together. For dessert we had Rolo stuffed pretzels. So easy to make and tasty!

Who knows? Maybe we have a new tradition.
After dinner, we got ready and we were off to welcome the New Year.

I did not take any pictures after this but we had such a great time ringing in the New Year.

I have to admit that on the 1st, I began to feel a little bit of excitement for a new year. You know, all the possibilities, the fresh starts.

I just want 2016 to be the year I look back on and say, "Man, that was the highlight year for me!" So I’m saying it and claiming it for myself, my family, my friends and you! Happy New Year, guys! ♥

New Year's Eve

We did not have plans for what we were going to do for New Year's Eve until 2 days before. I knew it was coming and then before you knew it, it was there. I asked Sean what he wanted to do and he didn't really care what we did. I contacted Lisa and asked if she was doing anything and she had no plans either. We decided that we'll do dinner and then after dinner go to their place and play games until the ball dropped. A rather simple and laid back New Years Eve but a lot of fun.

Sean picked the restaurant (Prime Steakhouse) and I made the reservations the day before New Year's Eve. I was actually surprised that we were able to get them because I thought that most of the decent restaurants in our area would be booked. We got reservations for 8:30pm which I thought was a good time to begin our night but really it was the only time that wasn't after 9pm that the restaurant had available.

It was so busy when we entered and I was so glad we made the reservations because I usually don't. We didn't wait too long (we got drinks at the bar) and we were seated.

For our appetizer Steve and I both ordered lobster bisque and Sean and Lisa ordered the steak vegetable soup. Lisa also ordered fried calamari. She is a huge fan of appetizers! I told her that we have to start ordering desserts.

Our soups were really, really good. I completely made sure that every bit was out of that bowl when I handed it to our waitress. My mom would be proud ;).

For my entree, I ordered Smothered Chicken Breast which was two grilled chicken breasts topped with sauteed mushrooms, onions, bacon strips, and cheddar cheese. So, so good! Lisa ordered the Hawaiian Chicken which was two chicken breasts marinated in a pineapple and sherry marinade and topped with a pineapple ring. Sean ordered steak with steak fries and Steve ordered the Surf and Turf. All of our entrees came with a salad of our choice.

We had a great experience and I'll definitely be going back again.

Hello Twenty-Thirteen.

Our NYE was a great time. Our friends bought their first home in August 2012 so they hosted a housewarming/NYE party. It was a house that needed a lot of love and work. And work they did.

It was incredible to see their hard work come together and even more awesome to know that Sean and I were able to help and see the changes along the way.

Although, I had to come up with a new outfit at the very last minute (I am convinced that my shoes made my outfit) since it would have been a sin to destroy their newly laid hardwood floors; we had a great time.

I don't know when I will get around to recapping our NYE or even if I will. I took too many pictures and I'm feeling overwhelmed to recap.

I had a fabulous time bringing in the new year with Sean (not sure why he is licking my teeth) and our friends.

I hope you all had a wonderful time too!

Happy New Year!

xoxo ♥

Oh and since today is 1/2/13, I stepped on the scale as I promised. Yeah, the scale is still alive but I was very close to putting it inside Izabella's crate and letting her have her way with it. Damn scale. Or maybe damn cupcakes. But I would rather blame the scale than the one too many cupcakes. Unfortunately,Operation get fit is back.

Scenes from New Years Eve

This NYE we went with some friends for somewhat of a fancy dinner and then to our friend's house party. To say that we had a great time is an understatement. And I took a lot of pictures. Because I'm a picture taking crazy and Sean did not mind being in pictures this day. Win, win.

{All ready to go. I even had Sean apply fake eyelashes for me. It had rhinestones on it so it was a must. And I'm not sure he would be proud of me to say this but he did a mighty fine job}

{I felt pretty. That's always a nice way to welcome the new year}

{Before we headed out for dinner we all met up and had some wine}

{Then it was off to The Van Dyck for some dinner}

{Menu}

{And somewhat of a group picture}

{Couples}

{We had to take a picture of us with the tree}

{Crab cake for my appetizer. It was so good}

{See, I told you Sean didn't mind being in pictures that day}

{Filet Mignon for Sean and Chicken Francais for me}

{The band}

{Chocolate Stout Lava Cake for me and Apple Crisp a la Mode for Sean}

{After a delicious evening, it was off to the house party to welcome 2012}

{Nothing says a celebration like a Chocolate Martini}

{What has happened to my husband? And can he stay around?}

{Then it was time for some board games. Girls vs boys. I hate losing which we did}

{And when the clock struck mignight we celebrated. And I took silly pictures of hubs}

{Seriously, my husband kills me. Only he would flex with a tiara on his head}

{It was a perfect night}

{And just because I liked my outfit so much}

Hope you all had a wonderful time bringing in the New Year. Wishing that 2012 is an incredible year for all of you. Xoxo.
