Scenes from Christmas Day

This Christmas, I felt some sadness. I kept on thinking about the families who were crying instead of smiling. This was also the first Christmas without Sean's aunt and I can honestly say that it was not the same. Yes, we still had an amazing time together but I missed her. And when my niece said that she missed Aunt Dede, I wanted to cry. But I couldn't allow those feelings to overshadow the true meaning of Christmas. I tried not to take away from the fact, that in that moment, I was surrounded by people that I love.

Christmas Day is spent with my second family. It's always an amazing time especially since I am slightly obsessed with my niece and nephews. Also helps that my in-laws are the most amazing in-laws ever. I never feel out of place. I thank God that he blessed me with an incredible second family.

My mother in law and I made lasagna for Christmas dinner. I also attempted to make the smores bar that I made for Thanksgiving dinner. Let's just say that it did not go well. I'm not sure what I did wrong but it was horrible. It made its merry way into our trash bin. What a waste of good ingredients! I ended up having to buy muffins at the only store that was opened on Christmas Day. Luckily, they were actually delicious.

This cutie over here calls me her best friend. We had a discussion not too long ago about what our favorite colors were. She said, pink ... I said, green. We had the discussion again on Tuesday. Guess what her favorite color is now?

Alright, I'll stop talking (for now) and share pictures I took on Christmas with my new camera. I have no idea how to use the thing. I have a lot to learn. I started by attempting to read the manual. Too bad there's all this mumbo, jumbo about this and that, that I have no inkling about. It's going to be a long journey.

I could just eat him up.

My nephew has the best afro around; hands down.

Told you I am obsessed.

The lasagna I made for our Christmas dinner. Is it bad to mention that everyone said my lasagna tasted better than my mother in laws?

Two words. His hair.

Sean joined in the drawing game.

After dinner and opening of gifts, we headed to Sean's aunt's house for dessert.

The muffins we had to buy since I clearly showed that I do not know how to follow baking directions, the second time around.

There are some cute kiddos in my family. He loves the camera.

Obviously, someone was not too happy about the picture taking.

All mine!
When we got home we relaxed with a glass of this. Who am I kidding? I don't drink tar.

Too bad we have to wait another year for Christmas.

  15. Such sweet pictures! I'm glad you had a Merry Christmas :) I find that with each passing Christmas there's a bit more reality thrown in..and with it comes that bit of sadness of "first Christmas without" someone special in our lives. I'm so sorry again to hear of Sean's aunts' passing. I'm sure she's watching from above and smiling as she watches her lovely family at Christmas.
