Why I Refuse To Own A Smart-Phone

The hubs keeps pressuring me to buy a Smart Phone. I know I should be jumping at the thought but maybe you also remember how difficult it was for me to own a cell phone in the first place. I've already caved once, I don't need to do so again.

He has the Droid2 and I seriously think it is his new best friend. He talks to the darn thing and it talks back to him. Droid2 tells him where to go and sometimes Sean orders Droid2 to call someone and it does! This is not normal, I tell ya!

He asked me again tonight and my answer was quite simple.

"I refuse to own a phone that is smarter than I am".

He stared at me blankly and now I wonder if he really BELIEVES that Droid2 is smarter than I am, because he didn't say a word.

Regardless, I think he won't bother me for another month about it. So even if I confessed that I am not that smart at least I won, for now.

  2. Faith- it anticipates your every move, it knows where your favorite restaurant is at all times. Heck mine makes me coffee in the morning! I was hesitant at first too but had to get one for work. It really is the coolest thing ever. Team Droid!!!!

  4. I love my iphone :) I've always been a fan of phones that had games, if I'm waiting for someone or something, I will happily take out my phone & play games on it. That's why I wanted an iphone & I had to get one :)

  5. Faith, are you and I becoming "old"?! We're both fighting new technologies right now! You with the smart phone and me with Facebook! I feel like my husband's grandfather who refuses to get a cellphone at all, whether it's "smart" or not. Or my boss's mother who refuses to get the internet! Or my other co-worker's mother who refuses to get a dryer (I think she's crazy for that one though); who's actually hanging their clothes out to dry in 2011?! Anyway, I have a smart phone that I love but I'm having a hard time getting on board with Facebook so I feel you pain!

  6. I didn't have a Smart Phone for the longest time...and to be honest, I was fine with it. I have one now...and I love it, but I still have no idea how to use it. Sometimes I just want to make a call and I still have issues trying to just do that:) Don't give in;)

  9. My Tv, Blue Ray player and my computer and most gadgets are smarter then me anyways...so I figure why not the phone too! Ha, ha. I love being organized and it helps with that. To be honest I don't actually talk on the phone much b/c I sort of hate it. Well, when you are ready you will but until then I imagine you are saving a little bit of money at least not having a data plan.

  10. I don't want one either. Verizon charges an extra monthly fee for smart phones. I don't THINK SO! I can access email, FB and Twitter on my phone. I think that's smart enough! lol
