Thursday Morning Ramblings

Ahh, it’s November. This means that Sean and I will be celebrating our 3rd wedding anniversary in 5 days. Since our wedding date is November 6th either I’ll be a happy camper or I’ll be crying due to the election and all. Poor 11/6/2012, so much pressure for one day.

We were planning to have a weekend trip in the city for our anniversary but due to Hurricane Biatch Sandy that has been postponed. My city isn’t looking too good and I'm devastated seeing all the destruction. My heart goes out to all those who lost their lives, love ones, homes, businesses, etc.

I have no idea what we’ll be doing. But I’m thinking this weekend sounds better than doing anything on Tuesday. As for gifts, we haven’t even discussed. Last year, we did a $10 cap gift and that was fun. I’m thinking this year we should just do a $0 cap and buy nothing for each other. Maybe a card.

Back to good ole November:

I’m crazy excited for Black Friday. I’m one of those crazies that enjoys the chaos. It’s like I take a deep breath before I enter the store and then, BAM! Insane Faith is running all around the store. SeanSorry if you can’t keep up, I have gifts to buy!

We put away $10 a week from the beginning of the year until the end of the year for our family Christmas gifts. You really don’t feel $10 a week but you do feel it when you drop $500+ on Christmas gifts without a plan. We’ve been doing it a couple of years now and as long as we are able we’ll continue to do this.

Oh back to Black Friday. I can’t wait. We will most likely buy all our family gifts that day.

November also brings good ole Thanksgiving. I love Thanksgiving. Food, family, thankfulness. It really doesn’t get better than that.

When Thanksgiving rolls around we know that soon we can decorate for Christmas without anyone raising an eyebrow. Christmas music on Pandora is OK. The heat turned on high while you’re sipping on hot cocoa with tons of marshmallows is the norm. I just truly love this time of year. The excitement in the air cannot be denied.

But as much as I love all of the above it makes me just a little bit sad that this year is almost over because soon I will have to think of all the goals that I did not accomplish.

Soon 2013 will be here. New goals will be made. And life will continue to move quickly.

But there is one thing that I know without a doubt; I’m truly enjoying the ride.

Happy Thursday, friends!

xoxo.

  1. I am SO excited for Black Friday. That is a great plan - $10 a week every week. I may start that in 2013. Although I'm about 1/3 done with Christmas shopping already.

    and Happy Anniversary!

  2. I am so sorry to hear that Hurricane Sandy has wrecked your city Faith, it's such a tragedy and the damage caused is really saddening, I hope the city and America as a whole picks up soon! I'm glad to hear that you and Sean are celebrating your third anniversary, hopefully the election goes your way too, I'm going to guess that your an Obama supporter. I think I want him to win too, I trust in him to help America through the tough economic climate and the tragic caused by Sandy.

  4. HOLY CRAP! I totally forgot it was November. Oh I am one of those crazy black friday shoppers too LOL
You gave me an amazing idea for next year! $10 a week for an entire year...that's pure genius. Maybe I can try an implement like a $1 a week for my boys :-)

Oh NY...Keep y'alls spirits high. Greatness comes out of devastation.

    Have a great anniversary :-)

  8. Omg I LOVE BLACK FRIDAY!! I'm already stalking the internet for ad leaks!! Can't wait! I also have my maternity pants out for Thanksgiving... no shame!!! I'm eating to my hearts content this year. :)

  9. I love that y'all do $10 a week!! I've always wanted to do $20 a paycheck (which is basically the same) but have never stuck to it. I need to get better at that because it really does suck to scramble at the end!!

and I am right there with you on Black Friday. My mom, sis and I are crazy too but always have so much fun doing it!!

  10. I am so sorry to hear about the Sandy devastation in your city and so many others. I'm glad you are OK. I usually don't do the whole Black Friday thing, but this year, I'm seriously thinking about it. I can't wait to decorate for Christmas, too!

  11. Happy early anniversary! All the new yeah means is a fresh start to our goals...not what we didn't accomplish!

  12. I'm crazy about Black Friday as well! I love every minute of it :) And I think it's genius that you put aside $10 a week. We will definitely be doing that next year...because nothing hurts more than spending a month's work of pay in a day!

    p.s. - happy early anniversary!

  13. Happy almost-third anniversary!! I feel you on the $0 cap...just enjoy each other's company for the evening :). You are SO smart for saving $10 a week...that's something we need to start doing. With a huge family, Christmas shopping really does take it's toll on the finance department. But it's so fun! I love this time of year too...the next two months are the best in my opinion. Bring on all the yummy food and family time!

  16. Good idea socking it away each week. I participate in "Christmas Club" at our credit union and get a check for about $2,000 - which with KIDS is imperative!! My kids' are getting older which means their "wants" are getting bigger too!

  17. Hurricane Biatch! Hahahahaha oh that did make me laugh! Happy almost anniversary! I wish I would shop on Black Friday, I'm the opposite. I HATE the crowd lol, I'd rather pay almost double for something and not get into the hassle of the crowd. I envy your patience! I hope you have a great November sweet girl! Oh, ps. this is the first post of yours that I have been able to comment on since like 3 posts ago : (. I'm glad it's fixed!

  18. What a smart idea, the $10 per week! We need to hop on board with that one!
Storms are just so mean! Praying for everyone involved!

  21. Three years- so exciting! :) My cousin and her husband found out they were pregnant with triplets on their three year anniversary... ;)

I am a HUGE November fan, too! Although I can't do Black Friday. Crowds freak me out, and I feel like everyone is infiltrating "my" shops (which makes NO sense).

I think your idea of setting aside $10 each week for Christmas gifts is AMAZING. I am going to do that in 2013!

  22. Oh goodness, I wish we lived closer....your my kind of Black Friday. Me and you would dominate it. :)

  24. saving $10 a week is genius. I'm already planning what Paul I will rob to fund Peter's xmas spree.. ;)

It's hard enough for me to watch all the reporting on the devastation caused by Sandy, I can't imagine being there. Thoughts are with you all.

  25. Gosh we do have a lot in common. Christmas is my favorite time of the year. I just get so happy and giddy and joyful. Black Friday is also my favorite shopping time of the year. I don't go out though, I stay at home and shop online :).

I am totally going to steal that savings plan idea for Christmas gifts. Definitely the way to go.
