Prepared sounds a lot nicer than Paranoid

IMG_4075

There are certain things that are not shared on a blog because quite frankly some things need not be shared. When you read my blog you probably have an idea of the type of person I am.

You would probably say I’m funny (my friends and family agree) ... you might say I’m a fashionista (I sorta agree) ... you might say I have a great smile (Sean agrees) ... you might also think I’m sweet, friendly, a tad bit sassy (just ask Sean), honest and a person you wouldn’t want to mess with. Ha, I’m making the last one up. I would like you to think you wouldn’t want to mess with me.

You might think I’m carefree but that is where you would be wrong because I’m paranoid. No, I have not been diagnosed with paranoia but I am a bit paranoid.

How do I know? Well, Sean told me. He says that I think that everyone is out to get me. That I think that the world is about to end. And well, I can’t argue with him because I kinda do think this. And I think I need to work on it but I always say; no one is going to catch me by surprise because I’m ready, whatever that means.

If I am out taking a walk by myself or with others I look behind every few minutes. I am always scanning the area around me. And I walk with the longest and sharpest key in front of me, just in case. When I’m at the gym, I check out everyone who walks in. If you need me to describe a person, I’m your person.

I never, ever leave doors unlocked. And Sean never hears the end of it. Are your car doors locked? Did you lock the door when you came in? I just don’t want to be that person who left their door unlocked and well you know. And just in case I did forget to lock the car doors (will never happen), I always look inside of the car before I get in. Oh and as soon as I am in the car I automatically lock the doors.

I am also guilty of thinking that the worst case scenario is going to happen. That is why I try not to watch scary movies because it is hard for me to separate Hollywood and real life when you’re paranoid like I am.

And the news. Don’t even get me started about the news. I think I would live a more carefree life if I did not torture myself with the freaking news. One of my blog friends Nancy recommended a news station where you only get good news. Where do I sign up for that?

I do other things but I don’t know if I should share that because well, it’s a bit embarrassing and I think I’ve already embarrassed myself enough. So while reading my blog did you ever think I was paranoid? Or did I keep that well hidden? Say I kept it well hidden that way we can still be friends ;).

  1. My mom is like this! Worries about all this crazy stuff...well to me it's worst case scenario stuff.

  2. hahaha I love this! Mostly because I can relate, I tend to be overly "prepared" at times too. My Dad is REALLY bad about being that way...especially about car doors. He takes it so far as to walk around the car 2 or 3 times and check every latch just to make SURE they're all locked. ha! And I'm in love with that picture of you....you are so gorgeous, Faith!!

  3. You sound like my hubs! He's in law enforcement, and all the things you do he does too! He also calls himself prepared. I have to agree. I know when I'm with him all the "i"s are dotted, and "t"s are crossed.
Maybe you should think of a career switch. :)

  4. I had no idea that you were often paranoid Faith, that really sucks and I'm sorry you go through that. I think prepared is a better word, it's always good to be prepared.

  5. I am just the opposite! I never think anything bad is going to happen. Like no one is going to attack me and no one is going to break into our house. I get forgetful about locking the door and I get really mad at myself because it's ridiculous. We do need to be careful because you really never know. I think it can be a good thing to be cautious as long as it doesn't leave you housebound or anything which clearly it does not!!

  6. Definitely didn't know that you were paranoid like that.
But I think as I get older I am getting more paranoid.
But it may because I watch far to much Law & Order and Criminal Minds.

  7. OMG! We must be twins, because I am the same way. I am paranoid/scared all of the time. I almost race myself to get into my car and lock the doors when I am out at night. I can't help it...& I can't even remember a time when I didn't feel like this.

  8. Haha! That's not normal? Dang! Here I was thinking that we were all normal and that everyone else is crazy. Hey, we're not the ones doing crazy stuff in this world now are we? It's ok to be paranoid sometimes though. Like at night if I'm out and alone, I constantly look behind me. If I'm driving...in my mind, everyone's following me! Poor Sean haha!

    xo

P.S You are funny & you do have a gorgeous smile! I guess that's associated with "crazy".

  9. You're like me. I'm super paranoid at times. I don't even like walking inside gas stations because I'm always afraid they'll get robbed soon as I enter. I'm working on being carefree but I think alittle awareness is good too! :)

  10. Like you said... I don't think this is paranoid. I think it's prepared! And responsible! You hear stories about girls getting in cars and the abductor is IN THE CAR. If they had looked, They would have been safe! :)

As for messing with you, you threaten people with your stiletto. I am NOT messing with you. :) And I mean that in the BEST way possible. HAHAHAHA!

  11. I never thought you were paranoid from reading this blog, but I am just like you and my husband sounds like Sean. I don't care where you live, one should always lock their car. Have they never heard - "Trust in God but lock your car."
I'm as prepared as you - maybe more!

  12. I"m right there with you! I am so paranoid, but I figure there's a good reason for it -- there are crazy people in the world!

  13. oh girl, i understand this more than you even know! being married to someone in law enforcement, it's like a requirement to be paranoid. i am always checking to make sure doors are locked... and i am super careful getting in and out of my car (especially at night, at gas stations or in parking decks) and you better believe i ALWAYS have a escape plan in the event that someone would attack me or break into my house.

  14. Hey better safe than sorry! Never would have guessed, though.

  15. Ha! I find this surprising faith! My mom is the same way...I'm completely opposite. The only time I get paranoid is if I'm walking alone in a parking garage at night.

  16. I'm totally the same, but I think its because of where I was raised. My family moved to a not so safe part of Queens, NY so they pretty much made us as paranoid as you could be about anything. Like you, I notice everything about everyone and keep my eye on everything. I do also think the world is going to end any moment now, but people say its my dramatic side.

Little do they know - I'm actually paranoid!

  17. When I first read this I was cracking up. You really do sound like my mom. I guess I am the same to an extent. I think its all about safety. And the news never helps. I listen to it on the radio when I drive to work. And it is never good. It really only shows the evil in people.

  18. I wouldn't have known this about you if you didn't post it. I'm very much the same way. I'm a pretty anxious person (not diagnosed, but I know what anxiety is and I know I have a lot of it). It's not fun!

I had to stop watching horror movies many, many years ago because I'd be terrified that crap would happen to me in real life.

  19. "Well, Sean told me" <--- that was my favorite line. HAHA!!

I'm the same way when I'm walking around, and with the car too. I don't even watch the news anymore, because I feel depressed, so I just stopped.

I have anxiety, but fortunately I also have a prescription for Xanax that curbs it when I need it ;)

  21. My hubby is just like you and I'm the exact opposite. Can't remember the last time I locked my car at home and sometimes when I try unlock my car when I'm not at home I find its not locked. There's even been a few times we've slept with the door wide open, thank heavens no one's walked in. I think a fair amount of "paranoia" is healthy. The world isn't as safe as it should be, so better "over prepared" than under. Never got the impression you were paranoid from reading your blog though.

  22. We are going to think of a way together to get this news channel going. You can host the segment on fashion & travel & I will host on benefits of massage, essential oils & cheap entertainment for kids :)

  23. Girl, you are not alone! I drive my hubby crazy with my constant worrying (mostly about super unlikely things happening), which is just silly, but I can't help it.

    ReplyDelete
  24. nope, never would have guessed you were paranoid at all from reading your blog! it's all good though, being a bit cautious is a good thing!

  25. I don't think you're paranoid. You grew up in the BX. Living in the city is very different than living in upstate NY. I grew up in a small town in the suburbs of Buffalo. No one locks their doors to the house or car. I went to college in NYC and now reside here before living in Houston and DC. I ALWAYS lock my car and house. I look people in the face everywhere I go because you never know what's going to pop off. My mom went to college in NYC too so she is very aware of these things even in upstate NY. She's the one that told me whenever I go to a club to ALWAYS know where the exits are. Don't wait for my friends have a meeting area a few blocks away.
You're not paranoid just safe. I live in Brooklyn and stay on my guard!

  26. You safe...not paranoid! :) I'm a huge advocate for locked everything! Imagine...Matt grew up leaving his car unlocked with the key slightly in the ignition. House was never locked either! I shudder to think what that was like haha.

  27. Haha. This is awesome. I'm definitely a lot like this too!

  28. i am loving that camo jacket with that orange colored tank underneath faith, i know im suppose to read the rest of your post but i just had to comment on your photo

  29. I LOVE this because I am sort of the same way. I was just telling Garrett that when I walk by myself I look behind me every couple of minutes and I am constantly looking around. He was like, "really?" Haha boys just don't get it. Also, when I used to have to go to work at 5:30am and it was dark, I would ALWAYS check the back seat/very back of my Tahoe before I got in. Just in case someone was hiding in there about to get me. And you kept it well hidden, : ) I wouldn't have thought you were paranoid!

  30. This is not being paranoid - it's being AWARE. More women should take some of these steps to ensure their safety. I do many of the same things Faith, don't let people make you feel they are weird xo

    ReplyDelete
  31. aww, faith...i can relate. i sometimes swear there's someone behind our shower curtain. sometimes i hate the dark. and when my cats start acting all crazy like they see something, i freak out! i sometimes prepare for the worst and hope for the best too.

  33. Ha! I remember one post awhile ago where you mentioned being upset because your DH was nonchalant about locking doors in your home. I don't think you're paranoid. Just careful.
