Yesterday, Sean and I drove down to the city to meet our new niece. The excitement I felt is beyond what I can even explain.
As soon as we drove on the George Washington Bridge I just felt like I belonged there. Even though I no longer live in the city, I continue to feel like this is my home. Maybe one day it will be my residing home again, but I'm sure that forever I will feel that in regards to NYC, there really is no place like home.
After lots of hugs, a few tears and telling my sister how amazing she was I asked the most important question, "Would you mind if I share her on my blog?" She smiled and said, "Sure."
I wanted to hold and just stare at her little face, feet and hands all day. When her eyes will lock on mine I felt like she knew who I was. It’s an amazing feeling to meet your sibling’s child for the first time. You’re in awe and I think I told my sister 100 times, “Oh my gosh, you’re a mom!" and “Oh my gosh, you have a daughter!”
It is this miracle that none of us can really explain. It’s these strong feelings that you cannot describe. But it’s exactly when you feel God all around.
Noa Grace, welcome to the family. You’re going to love it here.
P.S. Your mother and I asked Sean what's up with that creepster face in the above picture. Sean replied, "You know I hate pictures." Noa, you will see and learn just how much your uncle hates pictures for years to come.
