And Just Like That ... I'm In Love

Yesterday, Sean and I drove down to the city to meet our new niece. The excitement I felt is beyond what I can even explain.

As soon as we drove on the George Washington Bridge I just felt like I belonged there. Even though I no longer live in the city, I continue to feel like this is my home. Maybe one day it will be my residing home again, but I'm sure that forever I will feel that in regards to NYC, there really is no place like home.

After lots of hugs, a few tears and telling my sister how amazing she was I asked the most important question, "Would you mind if I share her on my blog?" She smiled and said, "Sure."

Noa Grace
Born 1/5/13 @ 9:06pm
7.9 lbs and 19.5 inches

I wanted to hold and just stare at her little face, feet and hands all day. When her eyes will lock on mine I felt like she knew who I was. It’s an amazing feeling to meet your sibling’s child for the first time. You’re in awe and I think I told my sister 100 times, “Oh my gosh, you’re a mom!" and “Oh my gosh, you have a daughter!”

It is this miracle that none of us can really explain. It’s these strong feelings that you cannot describe. But it’s exactly when you feel God all around.

Noa Grace, welcome to the family. You’re going to love it here.

P.S. Your mother and I asked Sean what's up with that creepster face in the above picture. Sean replied, "You know I hate pictures." Noa, you will see and learn just how much your uncle hates pictures for years to come.

my husband is considering jobs in nyc or virginia and i'm not sure which i would like more, i've always considered myself more of a west coast person. anyways, on to the baby.
so cute, congrats to your sister!
also, new born babies kind of freak me out, i feel like they are too fragile, i can't handle it. haha

What a lil' cutie! Congrats again Aunite Faith!

Your words described perfectly what I felt when my nephew was born a day before your niece..."It is this miracle that none of us can really explain. It’s these strong feelings that you cannot describe. But it’s exactly when you feel God all around."

I was with my sister throughout her labor, so you can imagine I've had enough birth control for years! LOL. Seriously, it was such a mind blowing experience to witness. My sister is such a hero in my eyes and I cannot believe she's a mother now. Wow. Babies are such a beautiful blessing and I'm so thankful for the newest addition to our family.

I pray you get to see you niece often and enjoy time with your family :)

Noa grace is perfection personified. Your niece has you wrapped aroungd her tiny little fingers ;-) I felt the same way you did when my sister had her baby. It was mind blowing to think that she was a mom. Lol then when I became a mom it was hard to wrap my head around the fact that now I was a mom too!! Anyway Noa Grace's head full of shiny thick hair is gorgeous!! Enjoy that sweet bundle of joy!

Amazing! She is so gorgeous and that name fits her perfectly.

Giving birth is the most pleasurable pain a mother will ever experience. And being a mom is amazing on so many different levels.

Congratulations to your sister, and to you and Shawn! God bless you all!

This is so sweet! My first baby is due in May and I had to send your post along to my brother. He is younger than me and doesn't have any children, but I already feel so excited and crazy about the moment HE becomes a dad!

Congrats on your little niece - she is beautiful! And I know what you mean about still feeling like a NY-er. I grew up in the city, and though I haven't lived there for a few years, whenever I go back to see fam, I feel right at home again!
