Seattle: Photographs

My days were spent on my own just exploring and taking pictures but a few of my evenings were spent with about 10-15 of Sean's co-workers. I was the only wife/girlfriend that was able to take 7 days to travel to Seattle. Sometimes this unemployment thing is a gift as my sister Emma pointed out. Hopefully I'll remember that tomorrow if I feel the urge to throw myself a pity party.

Anyway, these guys are ridiculously smart. One guy mentioned that he had graduated from MIT and Sean grinned and said he got his masters at SUNY IT. That made me giggle out loud.

I thought I would zone out during dinners being the only gal in the group but I found myself enjoying the chatter. These guys are senior operation managers, design engineers, human resource directors, area managers, etc. of Amazon. They have this language full of technical terms that I just had to nod my head at and pretend to understand. The one thing I could relate to was that we all love Amazon. It was fascinating hearing about the process that gets the items you order online, to your front door.

As I listened to them talk, it dawned on me that Sean is like them, that he is one of them. It is easy to forget that your husband is rather smart when he dries a top you've said several times not to dry in the dryer, when he tackles a rugby player twice his size without thinking of consequences or when he brings you home a fish sandwich with tartar sauce when he knows how much you despise tartar sauce.

But those nights in Seattle, listening to him talk with his peers I developed new respect for Sean. I just felt so proud of him and knowing how hard he has worked to get where he is at humbles me incredibly. The great thing is that the best is yet to come with that guy.

  4. I'm going through the whole unemployment thing too. And at times it can be depressing, but I'm so thankful that God took me out of my last situation. Great pictures too. Can't wait to see more!

  5. I love how much you love him. That sounds weird, but if I were to ever be married, I really hope for a relationship like yours.

I LOVED all the photographs once again, and I will never get tired of looking at them :D.

  6. Faith I love how you are capturing the city in these photos (and cannot wait to see more!) I was also so happy to read of the different light you saw Sean in, it is SO important for us to see our significant other in their varying roles for this very purpose (and is a good reminder to us to be thankful for all that they know and do!) xo

  9. Hi Faith. I can really relate to this post. When I see my husband interact with different people at church and then I listen to him play his guitar on the worship team, it really does change the way I see him, too. It always reminds me why I fell in love with him in the first place. I enjoyed the beautiful pictures of Seattle. Oh and I'm following you now. Have a great day.

  10. Were those trees painted blue?! How awesome.
I love that you got a little peek into Sean's work world! Although I rarely have much to add to conversations my husband has with his coworkers their stories always fascinate me! It's a whole different world, of which I can only imagine.

  17. Great pictures! And it's not bad that you have more pictures, I'm excited! Isn't it crazy that you forget how smart your husband is when you live with him? Lol I have always known Garrett was one of the most hard working and smartest people I know, but sometimes his common sense fails him. Does Sean like working for Amazon? Does he have an MBA or what? Garrett has his MBA and has talked about being an operations manager before. I bet Amazon is an amazing company to work for! And yes, enjoy not having a job while you can!!
