We enjoy going to Asbury Park. Not only is it absolutely gorgeous but we love the fact that the Wonder Bar holds a Yappy Hour where you can bring your fur-baby(ies) and enjoy drinks and food. There is also a dog beach which we intend to take Izy to several more times this Spring/Summer. It's well worth the hour drive to be able to see how much Izy loves the water and is in her element when she can just run freely.
The Wonder Bar was hosting a benefit with the ASPCA (rescued Izy from them too) to end dogfighting. Since Izabella is a pitbull this is a mission that has become close to my heart. It often baffles and angers me that a person could use a dog as sweet as Izabella and turn her into a vicious animal. It's ugly so I was glad to be able to be a part of taking a stand against dogfighting and seeing money raised going towards this mission.
After Yappy Hour, Sean and I headed back to the beach.
There was a wedding party on the beach.
I can only imagine how beautiful their pictures turned out.

Cute observation: Sean and Izy were playing in the water and the waves were getting higher and higher. At one point, Izy jumped up and started grabbing Sean's shirt to keep him from going farther but she still wanted to follow him to keep him safe. When she would think he was following her away from the big waves, she would turn her head and look back to make sure that he was following her. When she would see that he was staying put in the water she would turn around and go back to him. You know, keeping him safe from the big, bad wave.
Oh and since we're on the topic of Izy ... Izy has not left Sean's side since he's been home and it's the cutest thing. She loves him so much and I don't blame her. It's going to be another two weeks without seeing his face but I'm reminding myself it's not for much longer. Besides, Izy has it worst than me because she is going to wake up tomorrow not knowing that Sean will be gone again and look for him and be very disappointed when it dawns on her that he is not home. Life is just so much better with Sean around and I'm sure Izy would agree if she could talk.
When it was time for us to decide on dinner Sean said he was in the mood for Chinese food. He says that being in Texas he's been eating so much Tex-Mex so when I suggested Mexican I was quickly vetoed and side-eyed. He put in his phone for the nearest Chinese restaurant and the closest one was 3 miles away. Sometimes going to a restaurant you do not know much about makes you anxious but we got lucky and our food was delicious! We were given rather large portions so we have plenty of leftovers which I intend to stuff my face with in a little bit.
wonderful pictures ! :)

What a great summer spot! I love the fact that it caters to dogs too: there aren't many places like that down here! You look FAB in that dress, and "Something Blue" by Emily Giffin is SUCH a good book! Enjoy the time with your man and fur-baby: y'all are such a cute family!

ReplyDeleteFirst off, I am soooo jealous of your beach photos right now! It has been raining non-stop since I got back home and I'm not happy about it. I wanna beach darn it! I want to swim and lounge on the sand and not be cooped up inside whining like a spoilt kid. Le sigh. Give us...us...sun! Crap, the powers that be must have laughed at me because it just thundered *pouts*
ReplyDeleteI love love love how you guys are with Izy! We just recently adopted my cousin's dog, Mercedes and she is just so loveable. I couldn't let them put her in a shelter. Would break my heart.
