Hubs Can't Keep A Secret

Sean's birthday is on Valentine's Day. It also falls on our dating anniversary. We will be celebrating 5 years of being together. 5 years?! And I am still not sick of him! Win!

I don't think anyone should give a gift to anyone on their birthday and I always tell Sean that a dating anniversary gift is not necessary. That never stops him.

Last year, he bought me a diamond necklace. I could have killed him but it was so sweet so what can you do?

This year, I put on my serious face and said, Sean no gifts for me!

Well, when I get home from work, Sean is beaming ear to ear. And I'm like, what? He's like, Well, you know how I can't keep a secret. And I'm like, who's secret? He's like, my secret. And I'm like, OK, well keep it. He's like, Well, I'm bad at it so I want you to know for our anniversary I bought you the iPhone 4s.

I'm like, are you serious? Why? Why? Why? I told you no gifts for me AND I told you I do not want a smartphone.

He gets all pouty and says, Just think you can blog with this thing, even on the road.

He knows me too well. He knew that, that would make all the difference.

I give him a hug, still surprised, happy and slightly annoyed that he got me yet another gift on his birthday. The gift was given a week early so it technically wasn't given on his birthday. Right? Right. So I say, if I can blog with this thing then I am A-OK!

I guess, Sean will continue to give gifts on his birthday for the rest of his life. Next year, I might as well tell him what to get me ;).

p.s. How strange is it that I was just saying that the only reason I would want an iPhone is for Instagram. I guess, I finally joined the 21st century.
