Friday evening, Sean and I went to a fair in the boondocks. I love fairs. Growing up in the city I never went to a fair. The first fair I ever went to was while dating Sean. Or were we married. Yes, we were married.
So I get this big kick out of going to a fair. I love it a lot, a lot. Even if it is in the tiniest town in the boondocks.
As soon as I learned that we were going to the fair all I thought about was funnel cakes and cotton candy. I wanted to try fried pickles but it wasn’t being sold. I was disappointed but I’m sure my thighs weren’t.
Here are the pictures I promised. All taken with my iphone because it is just so much more convenient to carry my phone versus my camera now-a-days. Also, Sean is more willing to take a picture with a phone than an actual camera. Go figure.
{Car self picture on our way to the fair}
{We're here, we're here!}
{It was pretty warm when we arrived so the first thing we did was get something cold. I got this delicious drink. Jamaican Me Happy for reals.}
{We then went to view a truck pull which was the most boondockish thing I've ever done. I mean, really? What's so fascinating about this? A truck pulls this very, very heavy equipment and they try to see who did it at the fastest mile per hour. The crowd was cheering as if we were at a Yankee game. But now I can say I attended one and who knows the next time I might be cheering just as loud.}
{Then I got my beloved funnel cake sprinkled with tons of sugar powder}
{Sean got this sandwich which was nothing to look at but it was oh so good! Try not to puke looking at this picture}
{Then we were off to view the horseys. I love horses. As long as they keep their distance}
{And then we were off to see even more animals. This gets me sad each time. I hate to see animals in tiny, tiny cages}
{What are they feeding them? My goodness. This rabbit is as big as my cat!}
{Then I saw this gorgeous one. I'm so determined to find a skirt like their bottom half}
{We got warm again so we stopped to get some more drinks}
{I'm obsessed}
{Then I got my cotton candy}
{Dress: Forever 21 via 2010 - Sandals: American Eagle - Earrings: Target - Leopard Bag: Old Navy}
{He tried to win me a stuffed animal. He didn't try hard enough}
{We got our picture taken. Probably should have done this when it was light outside because I have no eyes}
{And then we said goodbye. Until next year, boondock fair}

Always thinking about fashion I see! You look cute and a skirt like that rooster (?) would be so fly. I can't wait for the texas state (fried food) fair. I won't go crazy but I'm so excited for funnel cakes and fried oreos, yum!
ReplyDeleteOh I love fairs - the fooooood! Yummmmy! You've never had fried pickles??? Oh they are the BEST!

That looks like so much fun! I've always wanted to go to a fair, but I don't know of many that happen around here. )o: I've mostly wanted to go just to eat all the amazing fried food I always hear about - like deep fried twinkies and funnel cakes. (o:
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a great time!
We don't have funnel cake over here but it seems like we're really missing out Faith! It's great to hear and see that you guys had so much fun at the fair, it really does look like your day was a whole lot of fun. Is that drink non alcoholic? If so it sounds incredible!
ReplyDeleteI tried funnel cake for the first time last year. Loved it!! So good. That's one of my fav things about the fair is the food. I think I ate way more when I went then you did!! Looks like it was a nice warm day too which is perfect. And that small town stuff like truck pulling is pretty cool to see. We saw Monster truck racing at ours!!

ReplyDeleteFunnel cake is the best! When we were in Atlantic City we got one with warm chocolate sauce on it and it was delicious! My stomach was not happy after that deep-fried goodness, but it was worth it.
You are so cute!
ReplyDeleteI'm actually the opposite. I hate all fairs with an intense passion.
I realize, though, that my boys will soon start loving it, and I'll have to give in and take them. At least I'll get a funnel cake out of it :-)
i love going to the fair and looking forward to going each year!! and it is here now until the end of the month so i will be getting my yearly requirement of animals and dr. bob's ice cream some of the best ice cream money can buy :-)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE funnel cake!!! Its the one thing I absolutely look forward to when we go to Six flags. I can't finish it ever but I sure do try. I think part of my love for it is just knowing that its something I can't always get year round :-).
ReplyDeleteLooks like it was a fun fair though.
Yay! That sounds so fun! The pictures are awesome. I always loved going to the fair growing up.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a blast! I haven't been to the fair in ages!
