Yup, this forehead reads, "Pick Me Up"

I’m not sure if men little boys guys don’t know that Sean and I are a couple. A married couple at that. It has to be the white, black thing. Because seriously, people never think we are together. Take the grocery store for example. We shop for two weeks at a time so we always have two carts. We get on the same line and it never fails that someone will come from another counter and tell me or him, “I can help you.” We always respond the same way, “we’re together.”

At first it would get Sean really annoyed when guys would comment on my appearance but after the episode of a young kid telling me, “Hot damn, you’re thicker than a Snicker” Sean just brushes it off now because he couldn't stop laughing.

So I should either be flattered that guys think I'm pretty or I should be upset that people don't think Sean is my man. Which one do you think I am? Ha.

As we walk down the strip in Vegas:

Random guy: "Girl, you’re so pretty. Going to the club tonight?"
In my mind = {No weirdo. Just no}

Random guy: "You have the prettiest smile."
In my mind = {I’m not smiling for you}

Random guy: "Damn, hot chocolate!"
In my mind = {You are so original because I’ve heard that one before}

And the worst of them all:

Random guy: "I bet you taste as good as you look."
Said to Sean = {“Babe, it’s alright. I don’t want to bail you out in Vegas, that’s gambling money”}

After that comment we decided to hold hands which is very annoying when all you want to do is take pictures of everything.

Best one of them all:

Sean: "You look so hot. You know the hot that will get you casted on the Real World."

Two things I learned about Sean on this trip. That he watched the Real World. And that he thinks the girls on the Real World are hot. Babe, I’m sorry. That ship sailed a long time ago since I’m 30 and all.

And thinking about it I’m not sure if I should be offended since we all know that the girls on the Real World are all loads of classy. But yea, he called me Real World the entire trip. I wanted to choke him.

So the question of the day to my fellow married ladies, do you still get hit on? What do your husbands do?

  1. It's so cute the way that Sean treats you when people try to hit on you, that's awesome of him. I'm sorry that you do get hit on so much and that people don't seem to realise you and Sean are together but I guess it should just be taken as a compliment so long as it goes no further than words! I loved the "thicker than a Snicker," line even though I'm not sure how that works!

  2. LOL. Real World?! WOW LOL.
    Rickey and I never hold hands and yes we (him and I) both still get hit on. He's very boastful about being married so plus for me LOL. This one time this girl walked right in between the both of us and put her hand on his arm and he looked down at her hand then at her completely disgusted and said "really?! my wife is standing right next to me." And then he like shoke her hand off and grabbed my hand and we walked the other way...uh so I lied...he's held my hand like once :-)

    I hate that men think they can say whatever they want to me. One even tried to "compliment" me saying I looked like his favorite porn star...GROSS!

    "I bet you taste as good as you look" --- WOW! SMH. Girl you're good! I woulda popped off at the mouth!

  4. I get that alot too, but its never a pretty scene coz my hubby gets offended real quick, and from time to time i don't mind him freaking out especially if its a dodgey kinda guy. But most times it would be an honest mistake...

    You guys are so cute. Enjoying your blog!

  5. the real world comments made me laugh! and I can't decide if I would be annoyed or flattered about being hit on. I pretty much surrond my self with 8 years old or my friends so that doesn't happen to me!

  6. First off.. kudos to Sean for being so good to you! :) You two are so meant for each other... love it!
    As for the hitting on.. I can totally relate. I also think it has something to do with being in an interracial relationship. The best was while we were in Jamaica for our honeymoon. The workers on the resort knew we were together but that didn't stop them for hootin' and hollerin' about how pretty I was and giving Matt high fives saying stuff like, "ya mon! You did good mon!"... "Enjoy that tonight mon". Seriously?! It was like I wasn't there. lol. Now that we have Avery we get different comments. People actually ask Matt if the baby is his if I'm not around. Makes him sooo mad!! I don't even understand how people could even ask that! ugh..

  7. girllll, you are too funny and just too hott apparently.
    i clearly do not have that same issue.
    however, i feel like everyone has that issue in vegas, its the only time where its an issue, everyones just drunk and all over the place.

    however, i do have a good story. my husband i were eating dinner at a small little place. sitting next to each other eating when all of a sudden the worker comes and sits to talk to me. he was from like the czech republic and kept inviting me over to his house and insisting that he knew me. it was weird especially because it was just like us 3 there. hahaha.

    but i've got nothing on you girl.

  8. Haha you are too hot for your own good! I usually do not get hit on. But this weekend I was visiting a girl friend and we met up with some of our friends at a gay bar. Oh man, I had to get out of there because I kept getting complimented. I didn't know how to take it bc that never happens to me. Lol. I couldn't stand the attention!

  9. LOL...Sean is too funny! Real World? I'm with you...that ship sure has sailed!!!
    I get hit on but oftentimes when hubby is not around. Even when I show them the ring on my finger, they still say "its all good...if you don't tell I won't". To which I always give a disgusted look.

    I started showing around 6-months and someone actually said "hey, if you ain't got a man, I can be your baby daddy!" All I was thinking is GROSSNESS!!!

  10. When Chris is with me I never get hit on. I dunno maybe its his presence or the way he looks. Guys will pay me a compliment through him "you're a lucky guy" or "does she have any sisters she could hook me up with", but like one of my friends said just a look at Chris' arm and you think twice about what you're gonna say in case he might body slam you. Which is hilarious cause he's so not the easily angered type.
    I do get hit on a lot now being pregnant if I'm out with friends, which to me is gross and weird!

  11. It's pretty gross when guys try to pick me up...my response is "as if!" Real World girls were pretty hot though!!

  12. I get hit on occasionally, but usually not when Jake is around. It's SO FRUSTRATING though! Like, leave me alone. HAHA :) Real World. LOVE IT.

  13. Awe, Sean is so sweet to you.. and I totally laughed at the real world comment haha

    I don't normally get hit on when Ryan is around.. but we tend to hold hands a lot. There will be the occasional time though when some random guy will come up to me while Ryan is standing right there. And it is ALWAYS drunk guys ha

  14. Omg that hilarious! People often don't think my husband and I are together either (he's asian, I'm white) so it's funny. Love the pick up lines though, those never get old. haha

  15. Thicker than a snicker?! Dang dudette. I’m going to use that on Jared tonight. Wink, wink Lesco. And no. I never, ever get hit on. For real. Sometimes I pretend I did. But then I remember I’m making it up and I’m depressed. So fellow ladies that never get hit on, don’t try that. It ends worse than it starts.

  16. This is funny.
    To answer your question: Yes.
    He's got me - he's flattered and we laugh and move on!

  17. My husband is white and I'm black. We've been married for 9 years and we still get asked the same questions: At restaurants, " Will that be two checks?", at the grocery store, "Is this going to be all together?" Finally, I started coming up with comments like: "Yeah, he buys my groceries because I sleep with him" or "This random guy just ate dinner with me" or "He just follows me everywhere I go, so I pay for his items". You should always let the customer tell you if it's all together or going to be on the same check. It's become a running joke between the two of us. Both my husband and I use to be waiters so if we get asked if it's separate checks, we will only give the minimum 15% tip, if they don't they get a lot more.

  18. I usually don't get hit on when I'm wearing my wedding ring, but one day when I was running an errand around our apartment building in workout clothes and no jewelry, some guy totally hit on me. It was so awkward and I vowed to always wear my ring from then on!

  19. Not yet married but even when I am with my boyfriend men approach me, call out things or give me looks while I'm with him. Ugh, it doesn't help that he gets a little heated and I have to calm him down lol

    REAL WORLDDDDDDDD

  20. Every night when I come home my husband asks me "did you get hit on today?" Usually the answer is yes, living in the savage concrete jungle, but sometimes I tell him no. And he says "what are they blind?! you look beautiful today" so yeah. I still get hit on. but its totally ok cuz hubs appreciates what he's got. :)

  21. haha, your husband's line was pretty funny! well i guess there are worse problems than getting hit on all the time. :)

    ReplyDelete
  22. No one hits on me...it's cuz I'm not Real World hot...ain't that some bs... :)

  23. I still get hit on but not as much as in my "glory days" LOL! We just think it's funny. It's nice to know someone else thinks you got something hot as long as they never get it! The Vegas episode of real world was one of the last seasons I watched and there were a lot of hotties on that particular season I will say. It goes the other way too how people assume you are together just because you are black. There might be a black lady behind me or a man and it's like-oh no-we're not together and we both know why the cashier thought that!

  24. Thicker than a snickers? Ha! That's too much! Very creative though!
    I don't get hit on a whole lot. Not when I'm by myself or when I'm out with Rod. But I'm sort of a plain jane. Definitely not Real World hot! lol! :)

  25. Haaaa! I love how he loves you!
    I usually get hit on by guys with just a few teeth.
    Not very flattering.
    Josh has gotten hit on at a nicer bar in the Birmingham area RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME. He just looked at me & smiled & moved a little closer to his wife. Smart on his part!!!

    At least you've still got the good, young looks, my friend. And a bonus that you dress fabulously all the time.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Oh my goodness Faith, we have the same issue. Men flirt with me when I'm with Josh too. Oh and "chocolate" I'm familiar with this one. Sounds like you guys had a good time in spite of the weirdos. Can't wait to see pics.

  27. people don't hit on me, maybe i'm just clueless.

    ReplyDelete
  28. omg...this is awesome! You know what's weird? I got hit on while I was pregnant! I never get hit on when Andy's with me...usually when i'm out and about on my own.

  29. hahahahahahahaha! These pickup lines are ridonculous! The funniest pickup line I ever got was "I know milk does a body good, but damn girl, how much do you drink?". classy. Also, I laughed so hard at the two things you learned about your husband on your trip :). You are too cute.

  30. ok i made the mistake of telling Matt the "thicker than a snicker" like and he's all for it now... haha. my. life. rocks. {sigh}

    ReplyDelete
  31. I love the 'thicker than a snicker' comment. I still get hit on but mostly when hubby is not around.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Oh my goodness! This whole post cracked me up. Your poor husband, but he must know how good he has it now, right? Haha! It makes you wonder sometimes, how can guys say that stuff? Do they REALLY think it will work? Crazy, crazy.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Thicker than a Snicker???? What the...
    Wow...the words that come out of people's mouths sometimes.

    I do still get hit on once in awhile, but I get told that I'm pretty intimidating as well. I just laugh it off because men try too hard. If my hubby is around, I usually don't get hit on because he's pretty intimidating too! haha

    ReplyDelete
  34. Hilarious!!!

    I never get hit on when my husband is with me.
