Boston

Yesterday morning, I got my outfit ready for work. A red blouse, white skinnies and blue heels. It was at the last moment that I remembered that I had a work seminar and had to dress professionally. I quickly changed and decided that since I loved my outfit so much I would just wear it to work on Tuesday.

Little did I know that on Tuesday, wearing what I’m wearing, I’ll be representing my country.

Yesterday, I attended a work seminar with a colleague and we both left refreshed and inspired to do our job. Although it was an all-day event the hours moved quickly. At 3:30pm, the seminar ended and when I walked outside it was a beautiful 63 degrees.

When I got home I immediately got Izabella ready for a long walk. The sun beating against my face, Izabella’s tongue hanging outside her face, it was the best way to end the day.

Once we got home, I put on the television, did not even bother to glance at it and got Izabella cold water and her dinner.

In the kitchen, I could hear the word bomb but for some reason it did not stop me. After about 15 minutes, I sat on the couch and stared at the television screen. The channel had been left on CNN and then my inspiring day just ended. Within a few seconds, everything changed. Evil had entered my home and my happy spirit quickly left. Tears welled in my eyes and I could not breathe.

As I watched the evil, I also saw something else. Although individuals were aware that two bombs had just gone off, instead of running in the other direction in fear that another bomb might go off, they ran in the direction of the horror. Their minds weren’t on their safety but of the safety of those around them who were not lucky to escape the tragedy.

And then it hit me. There is evil.
But then there is so much good. Just as light overpowers darkness, good overpowers evil. Every single time.

My thoughts and prayers go out to every single person affected by this tragedy.

  2. I just can't understand why...why does evil like this have to exist? What was the purpose?

You are right, though, good overpowers evil. Praying for Boston and its people.

  3. Thanks for posting this. My family is in Boston. For a few terrifying minutes, I couldn't reach my sister who was on campus along the marathon route.
You are so right. This was PURE EVIL! There was NO REASON for it.

  5. You're so right Faith, while there is evil in this world there is also a lot of good and it's the good that should be focused on. I was shocked, scared and worried when I heard the news last night and the fact that the death toll is so low to me is merciful. I honestly think that the people of Boston are made of tough stuff and the city will bounce back, it's worrying times but it's also the time of so much good.

  9. Yes, this is such a tragedy. One of my best friends was running the marathon and, thankfully, left the finish line about 5 min before the bomb went off. Praising the Lord for that but I'm moarning for the people and families who weren't so lucky.

  11. It makes me so angry that there are such evil people out there. Thinking about the good outweighing the bad does help. We just have to think about that so that we don't hate the world.

  14. Even though it sucks, and bad things happen, there is GOOD in this world. And no matter how often people like that try to make us forget, we won't. That's why instead of reading about the bad, I read about the good (like about the people who were running to help out).

  15. Faith, you gave me goosebumps...

There is evil in this world and I don't know why.. I cannot fathom the idea or wrap my head around it.

But the good... The good is amazing! And that's what I'm thankful for... All those people who rushed to those in need... Those people who rushed to give blood...

    They are so inspiring.

  18. So true! I was thinking the same thing, all those brave souls who didn't run away and instead ran to help people! I dunno if that would have been my instincts :( Praying for all those families affected, and our country in general!
