The BIG news.

Haha, you guys make me laugh. Even after I said it was not a baby many of you still said baby. Although, I must admit the funniest was the comment that said it's the 21st century and I should tell my family via email! SO funny! Yeah, Sean's mom would have killed us if we did it via phone, let alone email.

So the BIG news. Sean was offered an amazing opportunity with Amazon and we’re moving to Pennsylvania.

Beware, I'm about to get dramatic. Just picture me hyperventilating while you read the following:

This means that I will no longer have only lived in NY my whole life. This means that I’ll be leaving a job that I’ve grown to love for the last 6 years. This means that our first home will soon be a memory. This means that we are going to have to decide on whether to sell or rent our home. This means that when I said that I don't need no new friends, no new friends, I was wrong. I'm going to have to make new friends. Boo.

OK, now that, that's out ... it also means that big, new and exciting things are bound to happen.

As much as I would love to stay put I have to put those selfish thoughts aside. And it’s not easy being able to see the big picture sometimes. There are not many times that opportunity comes blasting through the door and that is exactly how it feels.

It feels like opportunity did not just knock on the door but walked right on it without being asked to come in. Not only that but we do not have kids so it is the right timing. It’s not like we’re moving an entire family from NY. It’s just Sean and I with our dog and cat. And the worst that can happen is that we hate PA and move back.

It took about a week to actually feel like my heart was not about to burst through my chest. So I did what I had to do in order to wrap my mind around something.

I listed the pros and the cons. When the pros outnumber the cons and you still can’t see it, then you’re a fool. And well, momma ain’t raise no fool.

You can take the girl out of New York but you will never take the New Yorker out of the girl. I actually said that to Sean all serious (with a tear about to roll out of my eye) and he burst out laughing. I guess, that was a comical thing to say???

So guys, as much as it breaks my heart that I’ll no longer reside in NY, I got the one news that would change everything. I'll actually be closer to the city which only means more visits to see my family. Yes, you know it! As soon as I found out the exact location I googled the distance between it and the city. So in the end, Sean wins ... but so do I.

I'm not going to mention that I nearly cried when I realized that we would have to cancel our week long trip to Chicago in August. Or that Colleen sent me pictures of herself in tears due to our news. Yeah, she sent me pictures of herself in tears! How rude. Talking about rude, I'm not even going to mention that I didn't tell Sean congrats when he first told me he got the job. Wife of the year.

  1. So excited that we'll be so close to each other now! And I could have told you how close you'd be to the city ... we used to go all the time for field trips in school. :)

  2. That's what happens when you listen to Drake! No new friends huh? Child please!

Congrats to Sean on his new amazing opportunity in the PA! Woot! (I'm sure that's what you really wanted to say instead those happy tears came rolling down right? Right!)

I'm sure you guys will settle in just fine. You're an awesome person with a beautiful personality. People are attracted to that, not to mention that smile! ...and if it doesn't work out, you can totally move here...or back to New York *shrugs*

  3. Congrats to Sean on the new gig!

We moved to Missouri from Minnesota for about a year. It wasn't really our thing, but we did enjoy the experience. Like you said, no kids just the cat and the dog, this is the best time for you guys to make this move.

How soon are you guys moving?

  4. Change can be really exciting! Sometimes we like the comfort and routine of what we know but NEED something to shake us up every now and then. Congrats to Sean on the new job. And cheers for a new adventure.

  5. Awesome!!! Congratulations to you and Sean. It'll be a different experience but something tells me you'll both make the most of it. Plus you'll be closer to my neck of the woods so maybe one day, we'll get to catch up IRL!

PA has a lot to offer and working for Amazon is an excellent opportunity for your family.

  12. I understand! Even though there are pros, moves are scary. When we thought we might have to move for Graham's job, I had such mixed feelings about it. We ended up staying put, but I was definitely having to do a lot to make myself mentally ok with everything. It's ok to be sad and excited at the same time. When is the big move? Good luck figuring it all out!

  13. it's ok to feel the trepidation that you do. it's a BIG move and a BIG deal. but you...you will make new friends no problem. and you will come back to nyc often, and you will be happy...i know it! congrats and best of luck!

  14. This is such an exciting time for you and Sean!! (Congrats to him, by the way.)
The hubs and I moved 1500 miles from home, and it was scary in the beginning... Taking a little ol' Iowa girl and dropping her in the middle of LA can be kind of overwhelming.
But, it's been one adventure, and it's the best thing that could have happened to us!

  15. Congrats!! That's very exciting! Not sure how close you all will be the Philadelphia but I absolutely love it there. Good shopping ;) and LOL at the no friends. That darn Drake and his silly rhetoric lol

And I KNEW it :) I was in this exact same position last year only I got a witty bitty baby. Can you tell me what city?? I promise I won;t stalk you- well I'll still stalk you and we will meet {someday}. And if you live anywhere near Hershey, PA, Allentown, PA, or within 10 miles of a waffle house let the stalking commence!!

  20. What a wonderful and scary new chapter for the two of you! Just remember--where ever you go, you bring yourself. And that means you will make friends so easily and you will build a home just like you have done the past several years. Congrats! I am selfish and can't wait to follow your exciting move and adventure!

  24. Wow- what exciting and scary news all at once! What part of PA? My Mom is originally from Pittsburgh, before she made the jump to California and we have a ton of family there.

This is such a scary step but imagine all the reflections you'll have a year or two from now! I can't wait to hear all about your adventures. :)

Sometimes you have to just grin and bare it with change and live on the promise of feeling settled in the future! Not that I know what I am talking about (I am not always the best with change), but time makes a big difference. Best of luck to you Faith!

  34. OMG, Faith!!! This is such exciting news!!!!! Although I can see the stresses dealt with it.

And your friend is such a brat! ;) And to be honest, I don't know if I would be able to say "congrats" either with news like that being dropped on you. It's hard to wrap your head about all the changes that will come.

However, it seems like this may work out to some of your benefits!

And I cannot wait to see and hear all the good places/food in PA! I've never been :) Although, I've never been to NY either.

    You're coming to Chicago!? :) :) :)

  35. I love that you will be much closer to your family, and you right, the opportunity came at a good time before moving meant worrying about how the change will affect little people, just you and Sean. Well here's to new beginnings, and a big congratulations to Sean!!!

  36. That's good news. Congrats to Sean! I moved to Texas about a year ago and felt the same way. Meeting new people is hard for me because I want them to be like my friends I made before the move. It will be a new adventure which will be fun. Can't wait to read all about it.

  37. Welcome to PA my friend! Where in PA? NY is really not that far from PA- depending where of course. You are so happy, and kind and outgoing and you will find friends soooo easily! Good luck and congrats again!

  41. OMG I was wondering what the news was! Faith you are going to LOVE your new city and flourish there I promise you! I just wish Amazon were having you move to Boston instead (how's that for selfish!?)

    Have a fantastic weekend!!

  44. Congrats Sean! Amazon, that sounds amazing!

Oh and hi...haven't been on here for what, 4 months? Need to catch up. Miss the blog world. But when do I ever have spare time? um yeah, never!

PA, kinda close to Baltimore. We might have to have that drink someday soon! (When I don't have two babies attached to each boobie, hehe)

    Miss emailing you doll!

  45. This is just absolutely incredible news and I am just thrilled for Sean because that sounds like an amazing job to me, well done to him! The thing that made me saddest was realising that he'll have to quit the rugby team, hopefully he can get straight into another team in PA, his current team are going to be missing some heck of a player though!

    ReplyDelete
  46. That's so exciting!!! And yeah, better now than when you have kids. Plus like you said, you could always move back. :)

Oh and even though I live in Missouri now and am only 30 mins from the Kansas border, I still hate it. Lol But I'm still close and you'll be closer to family. Just wear your NY gear everywhere. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  47. Well congratulations to Sean on his new position and to you both on the new adventures and memories to be made! While I wish you were moving to Denver instead, I can't wait to keep up with your transition and life in PA!

  48. Congratulations to Sean on his new position and I hope you have a great time together! I remember when I moved to a different country. It was scary but also really exciting! :)

  49. Oh, Faith! You are such a beautiful person. You will not have a problem meeting new friends. It will take time to acclimate yourself to PA though. The good thing is that PA is close to many major cities: DC, Baltimore, Wilmington, Philly, and NY...new adventures to come and perhaps a blogger/reader meet up in the future.

  50. Congrats on your hubby's new job opportunity! That speaks volumes especially in this time when jobs are so hard to find! I know you'll miss NY =*{, but at least you'll always be able to visit! Best of wishes to you and your family!

  51. Congratulations to Sean! AND i AGREE this is such a good opportunity to have happen BEFORE children are in the picture. I know you'll miss your jobs, but I'm praying you find one that you love even more (and pays you even more!).

If you're closer to NYC that can only be a good thing, and now you can check out Philly and Pittsburgh too :D. Chi-Town isn't going anywhere (it is afun city), but you can always go next Spring or summer :D

And I was like OMG, Faith is moving to Texas and we can be like best friends forever - in real life! BUt then I saw Pennsylvania, and was very sad - but only for me.

Super exciting for you guys! I know it's a big change, but sounds like a wonderful, exciting new chapter. Praying for all the transitions and changes coming your way. Congrats to Sean!
