The guilt monster.

A little bit in awe right now.
I was just offered the other job.
A much, much better offer.
I'm struggling because I accepted the last job offer but I have not been given a start date yet.
I'll get one this week.

The job I was just offered today I was given a start date for next week.
This is the better offer and I feel like I should do it so I'm 75% sure about what I will do.
I just wish I didn't feel guilty.
I think I know what most of you would do but tell me anyway, what would you do?!

I hope you all had wonderful weekends! ♥

  1. First, take your time - they want you.
Weigh both offers; is it only better because of the compensation or are you looking at the total package?

Ultimately, if you are more inclined to take the 2nd offer after considering everything then that is what you should do. Jobs are used to this, so you really shouldn't feel guilty at all.

  2. I'd feel totally guilty too because that's how I am but the bottom line is you have to look out for you. That's just all there is to it. Companies look out for their own bottom line when it comes to laying people off or making policy so you have to do the same for yourself. It won't be the first time someone gets a job offer and then decides to take a different one. So that's my pep talk!! Do what you need to do.

  3. Nysle is spot on! They want you. Weigh your options!
Sounds like #2 is the better deal.

  4. I agree with Nysle's comment! Good luck in your decision making!!

  5. Weigh both options in terms of what they are offering longterm. Option 1 may look gleam now but will it develop further. Option 2 looks good but will there be growing possibilities. You know exactly what you need to do, good luck!

  6. Awesome! Congratulations!!!
First, pray and ask God for direction. Then discuss the pros and cons with Sean and go from there.

  7. That's tough one, but look at God and how the blessings are raining down. I had a similar situation, only I got the 2nd offer AFTER I had been at this new firm a week. I was like wow, but pray on it and definitely consider all your options.

  8. Ha! Classic.... when it rains, it pours. I tell you the same thing that I tell my clients... yes, it's in bad taste to take back go back on the initial job offer BUT you have to do what's right foe you... and they really messed up by not giving you a start date.

If you started the new job, I'd say it's hard to literally quit...but you didn't, so keep it moving boo.

  12. You have to take the best job for you in the long run!

  13. Guilt is a normal feeling but ultimately you have to do what's best for you and your family.

My take, go with the better offer.

Good luck lady, I am loving that you are getting multiple offers particularly after all that wait.

  15. God is really proving himself with this second offer after all the wait.
i feel you should take the second job, you really deserve it.

  16. Faith, I'm so happy for you. I know you can't help feel guilty, but you have waited a long while for this and I reckon you can afford to be a little "selfish" for lack of a better word.

Yey for a better offer :D

  17. Better offer does not always mean it is the right thing for you. Take your time and think about where you will be happier.

  18. If you like the 2nd offer better, take it. It's the 1st place's fault for stalling on a start date ...

  19. First of all, congratulations. That is amazing. You should do what feels right for you. I get why you feel guilty, but ultimately you have to do what makes you happy. And the other place will find someone else!

  20. I'm just smiling because God sure knows how to pour out blessings/choices.

Well, I say go with whatever offer/opportunity that gives you peace within.

Also evaluate the industry and see which one has a great track record of retaining employees, the benefit packages with leave etc.

compare the kind of working environment in general and the one that puts you at ease and makes you smile within and without thats a good indicator.

Our God is an AWESOME GOD!!! Thank you God for puring out your blessings on Faith and remembering her and giving her great choices. God you are awesome.

  21. Hi,
I usually read your blog without commenting. However, I felt compelled to comment today. You should take a moment and breathe. You've waited so long for an offer and now you have 2 to decide from. Look at everything from health benefits to time off. Also, google both companies and see how others who've worked for them rate them. All the money in the world cannot make up for a job that you're unhappy with. Finally, pray about it and the answer will become clear.

Congratulations to you!! You deserve all the blessings coming your way.

  22. Follow your heart and you can't go wrong.

  23. Oh wow, I would feel so guilty, too, but you ultimately have to do what is right for you. Congratulations on getting another offer that is even better, Faith! Way to go! :)

  24. This is a testament to how awesome you are! Your faith was tested and then rewarded. I'm sure you already know/feel what you want to do. Money is important but for me it's always more important to be happy and feel good about decisions I make. So...do what makes you happiest!

  25. do what your gut tells you to do. I would go with the second one based on what you've said.

The only person that can make you happy is you. If they get upset at you for doing whats best for you, eff them.

  26. I would do a happy dance! Lol! ;-) I was sorta in this position last year. I felt complete peace about one job and so I took it. Life is full of ups and downs, just look at how emotional it is looking for employment! So, do what you and Sean think is best. You'll be able to handle whatever good/bad (hopefully all GOOD!) that comes.

  27. Don't feel guilty! It's life and everyone does what is good for them!

  28. Please do what is best for you! Jobs take up so much of our time and is a big part of your life, keep that in mind.

  29. think about it. pray about it. But you have to do what is best for you. This sort of thing happens in business all the time, trust me. The guilt will pass when the check comes...

  30. I know I'm late to the game about this, but first, Congratulations!! Unless you've signed anything, there is nothing legally binding you to your first offer. Sure, you did give them your word, but you HAVE to do what is best for you. Everybody will understand that!

  31. I don't know what I would do. :( I am a people pleaser by nature so it's hard for me to make decisions like that. I'd probably just close my eyes and hope the first people never noticed if I didn't show up, haha.
