On Friday, I headed to the city sans Sean to see my sister, niece and brother in law. Sean was tired with his traveling but he really wanted to see our niece so we decided that he would come down Saturday afternoon.
Friday night was a lot of catching up with my niece (sister & brother) and loving that fact that she was calling me Auntie! That alone made my trip! We had such a great time together and I think that after this trip she really knows who I am!
My sister made me her infamous mac & cheese and jollof rice (West African dish, so good!). What was even better is that she made enough for me to take home. Sean and I have had a great time eating it today. Thanks so much, Emma!
On Saturday, we headed over to Brooklyn where we would meet up with Sean at IL Passatore. Sean was in the mood for some authentic Italian food and this restaurant completely hit the spot. I cannot wait to go back and have it again.

But before we ate, my sister, niece and I took a little stroll through Brooklyn.
And then we met up with Sean.
My sister made it a point for my niece to wear this outfit since Sean and I bought it for her.
I'm in love!

"Who do they think this is comfortable for?!"
Darn grown-ups.
Carciofi con Polenta (pan-fried pistachio's crusted artichokes w/polenta, goat cheese and olives)
Tagliatelle al Ragu Bolognese (long thin cut pasta w/traditional style Bolognese ragu)
Camberi con Farro (sautéed shrimp w/spelt salad, tomato concasse & basil oil)
Tagliolini con Funghi e Crema di Porcini (long thin cut pasta w/porcini cream & portobello mushrooms)
Tilapia (pan-seared tilapia fillet w/sautéed spinach & sprouts in a lemon white wine sauce)
After lunch we took a little drive into Brooklyn Heights.
I took this picture without knowing he was giving me a ticket.
Completely did not realize that my inspection in NY was up last month, ugh!
Payback for taking his picture.
I highly doubt I'll ever get over this view.
Ended my visit with some delicious ice cream.
Until next time, NYC.
And then we met up with Sean.

Random comment: do you know what the sneakers tied over the electrical line means? Someone told me that drug dealers do that to mark where people can buy drugs... not sure if that's true. Interesting...
