Blogging has been a part of my life since 2010. I don’t know if it is lame to say that a day doesn’t go by that I don’t check on my blog. It has become this part of me and often I wish I knew about it way before. It continues to amaze me because of the connections I have made with women that I never would have known existed had it not been for this blog.
Sometimes I’m surprised with how alike so many of us are and how different, but then you just know that if you could meet this person it would be like meeting a long, lost sister. Yeah, I know, dramatic but sometimes I have to be in order to get my point across.
Then I began to think of qualities some of these women have that make me wish I could bottle them up and create one friend who lived right down the street. Instead they are scattered all over and I feel blessed that I get to follow their journeys as if I’m just down the street.
When I first started following Katie I felt this instant connection. It's like meeting yourself in another person. We both were married in 2009, have a love of fashion and often something she writes I know that I would completely write. If it weren't for distance I know that we would be sipping on wine and watching trashy reality shows together. Also, some of her stories of Derek, her husband, make me laugh out loud because Sean is the same way!
And you get to "meet" people like Meg and Katie and their Faith makes you want to sit and talk with them. You want to get just a bit more because not everyone has Faith. And you know that if they were in your life it would be incredible to just listen and learn. And maybe, just maybe, you could bottle some of their Faith too.
And then there are sunshine people like Emily and you know that the world is a beautiful place. You just feel it when you read her blog. Plus she has incredible style. The way she can put together an outfit is ... right, I can't even explain. I mean, she would be the best shopping partner I could imagine.
And then you realize when you "meet" someone like Kathy that you desire to be organized, creative and a DIY queen. You wonder, how in the world do you do this stuff and then you think to yourself, if only I could have half of her talent.
And I've "met" mothers like Nancy, Brittany, Emily, Toi, Ruthy Ann and Desiree and you think to yourself, wow! These are some lucky kids. These are kids who are so completely loved and their mothers make me want to be an amazing mother in the future. Not everyone can be a mother but these women make it look so easy because loving their children and their families is not hard for them.
And then you meet women like Whitney and Desi who can cook up a storm. Each time you visit their blogs you are fighting the incredible urge to jump through their screens and eat your heart out. I can imagine being able to hang with them and eat their delicious meals and not worry about gaining an ounce. They encourage you to get into the kitchen and try your hand at cooking meals you never thought you would try.
And then you meet a person like Kirsten and you can't get over how adorable she is. She is young but so mature for her age. And when I received my camera and could not figure it out she emailed back and forth with me until I figured it out. She even got her husband on google to get some information for me. How can you doubt the good in people when someone you don't know goes out of their way to help you?
And Cece, I've followed since I started. She has encouraged me and we have a mutual love for quesadillas. I can picture that if we ever met we would head to a restaurant that serves quesadillas and garlic bread covered in cheese. And we'll laugh and take pictures of each other because finally, we are with someone who likes to take pictures more than the other person. I picture it will be somewhere warm since Cece hates the cold and I'll be sweating because I don't like it too warm but it would be just the way I imagined.
And you meet other women like Kristen, Caroyln, Lori and Nicole and the things you have in common are way too much to ignore. It's like, wait? Are you me? How can we have so much in common? It's freaky but then it reminds you just why you love this thing called blogging. Being blessed to have "met" them makes it worthwhile.
Have you ever wanted to go on a double date with someone and their husband that you've never met? Well I have. Pegster and her hubby know how to have a great time together even with two baby boys. And that gives me hope because it's exactly how I want Sean and I to be. To be able to love on our future children but then still love on each other. So yeah, I want to go on a double date with them that way they can teach me their ways.
And there are some people who souls just make you want to be a better person. That's how I feel when I read Adrienne, Maria, Kasey and Jasmine's blogs. Maybe it's the thoughtful comments they leave on my blog that leave me feeling this way but they shine and not everyone can do that via the Internet.
And there are women like Nellie, Kimberly, Amber and Tenecia who push you to be a healthier you. Who encourage you to step away from the donut and to spend a few more hours exercising and eating better.
And there are women like Nikki and Law Fal who have this ability to get right back up. To not let situations bring them down and it completely gives you that extra push to keep going no matter what. No matter how many situations will try to make you feel less than.
This post can go on and on but I will stop here. The point of this post was to let y'all know just how much blogging has impacted me. The thing is that if you don't blog you wouldn't really understand and just think, woah, a whole post dedicated to this? But I've learned so much from so many of you. I know that I will continue to learn so much from each of you and that makes this, sharing our lives, so worth it.

Love this post Faith, it's always a good idea to pay tribute to those who have made your time on Blogger so enjoyable. I originally thought when I started reading this that this was a leaving speech which was worrying though, I never want to see you leaving this great documentation of you and Sean's wonderful life.
ReplyDeleteI'm post hormonal time, but this post made me tear up!!
ReplyDeleteI tend to gravitate towards the blogs that I feel are real life and not just a fancy blog...yours is my most favorite because you keep it real. I love looking at your love for your hubby & family & I HOPE & WISH one day I can meet you & hug you because you are one of my favorite people!

Not ruling out the possibility that some day it could happen.

confession time: I read this days ago and I was on my phone and I didn't want to rush the comment because I was about to get off the bus. Finally now that I have sometime, I just want to say thank you for 3 things:
ReplyDelete1) For the mention, I try to inspire everyday and to know that it has an effect on one person is good enough for me
2) This post: So many new people to follow, this blogworld is GINORMOUS
3) For being you. You are one of the first blogs I started communicating with when I started blogging and it has been the most consistent and fun relationship of all. I adore you and your blog so much!
Thank you.
This is such an awesome post! You and your blog [writing] inspire me so much. You are one of my favorite blogs. I just love your refreshing and vulnerable yet positive honesty. I overthink my blogging a lot but since I really do enjoy the connections I have made, I pray that I can be more at ease sharing who I really am behind this screen.
