Food & beer festivals and day dates.

I think our town loves to keep its residents busy because there always seem to be something going on. If you're willing to do a few minutes of research you could have a list of things to keep you busy for months at a time.

About two months ago, the casino in our town held their first beer and truck festival.
I'm not one for beer so I had every intention on going just for the food.

Albany (where we lived before) held food truck festivals yearly and they were incredible. So many vendors to choose from and everyone came out for it. Because of that, I expected a lot more. I'm not sure if it was because it was the first one and vendors were not sure if there was going to be a good enough turnout to be worth it but there were only 4 or 5 trucks. A little bit of a bummer.

I did find several beers that I actually liked so I can call it somewhat of a success.
Maybe next year, they'll get more trucks involved so I'll maybe give it another try next year.

Sean and I usually do date nights but one Saturday we decided we'd do a date day. And we've become big fans of this because it makes the day together seem much longer. We decided to try a new to us Mexican restaurant and it was so good! We were so excited to have finally found the Mexican restaurant that we know will become a regular. The complimentary chips were delicious and I was pretty sure that I could eat just that and be satisfied. I'm not exactly sure why I did not take as many food pictures as I normally do. I don't think I necessarily forgot but maybe was just too busy stuffing my pie-hole. I did choose to stop stuffing my pie-hole for one minute to snap a picture of my dessert.

Although this day was rather emotional, it became a really special day for us as well. It reminded me just how special the people that you love are and never to take them for granted. To treasure every moment you have and let the little, petty things go because there's really no time for it. I've always treasured my relationship with Sean but with the loss of my mom I am treasuring him a whole lot more and a lot differently. I find myself telling him more often how much I love him, how I appreciate all that he does for me, how he is my favorite and that I feel so blessed to be able to spend my life with him.

And now when he forgets to lock the door instead of freaking out, I just go downstairs and lock it myself.

  1. The festival sounds like fun and I think it's awesome that you and Sean have regular date nights. Cute outfit, too... :)

  2. What a let down about your food truck festival. Food trucks are a big deal out here, and every month there is a food truck get together (I'm not sure what to call it since it isn't a festival, but tons of trucks are all located in a small area). I love the variety and seeing what restaurants are on wheels.

So glad you and Sean were able to have such a nice time together. Bonus points for good chips and salsa.

  3. I like the sentiments in this post <3 You're right, sometimes the petty stuff just isn't worth it.

I've never tried anything from a food truck before. We have a few, but I forget they exist, lol! I love beer! Next time I want to go with ;)

  4. Beautiful and honest post. Also very wise words. I especially like the last line. I often get on John for forgetting stuff but I need to do better at remembering all the awesome things he does do and remembers to do just to make me happy.

    Thank you for the reminder!

  5. Omg, I can relate to the unlocked door. I get so annoying when Kirk leaves the front door unlocked (most of the time). Then I say in my passive aggressive voice, "No worries, I'll just lock it again. I'm not mad. *insert crazy chuckle" This is a sweet reminder to me! xo
