"My Sister's Keeper & Hoarders"

You will soon learn that I enjoying watching movies and reality television; if you didn't already know. Everytime I watch a good movie or show, I have to share. It is just more fun to have a friend to discuss a movie or reality show with.

Last night, I watched "My Sister's Keeper". It was really, really, really good. I was super impressed with Cameron Diaz too! I don't even think I need to share that I bawled my eyes out but I will. I BAWLED MY EYES OUT. Sean decided not to watch this with me and I am glad that I didn't make him watch it with me. It just isn't fun to have someone watch you sob with an amused grin.

After the movie, Sean decided that it was his turn to dominate the television. He chose "Horders". I've never wanted to puke as much as I did last night. Soooo gross. I am aware that these individuals have mental issues but I just can't understand. How in the world do you allow things to get that bad in your home? How? I will never watch the show again but I couldn't turn away from the episodes I watched last night. It was some strange force that kept me glued to the couch, because if I had any control I really wouldn't have continued to watch.

Sean has this thing with throwing everything away. Even if it hasn't expired, I sometimes see it in the garbage. I've yelled explained to him that he must check the expiration date before he throws anything away. He would say, "We aren't going to use it anyway". And I will say, "Check the damn expiration date". I have now come to the conclusion that he was on to something. Now, I will gladly watch him throw things away with a smile on my face because I now feel that normal people throw things away.

**This post is not intended to offend anyone and if it has, you probably have to throw a few things away**

  2. I was planning on seeing this movie tonight actually; I love a good movie that can make me cry. My mother always used to joke that I was heartless so I picked the habit of watching sad movies or huge theatrical movies like Bollywood's kind in order to prove to her that I wasn't heartless. :)
what's Hoarders? Is it something I need to be on the lookout for?

  3. I loved Sister's Keeper. It was soooo sad. I'd already read the book so when I heard about the movie I was real excited to se it. And oddly enough I did happen to catch that hoarders episode by chance while I was at my parents house. It is so sad that they have a mental illness that causes them to choose trash and crap over their family. Gross!!

  4. Ooooh, I've read My Sister's Keeper, but not watched the movie yet. I'm always a bit hesitant to watch a movie based on a book I've already read as they usually don't hold up- but perhaps I might try it this time. Besides, Cameron is just adorable.

I used to help a friend that has an organizing business (yes, I organize for fun!). That is, until she called me in on a job of a woman that was a horder. I didn't know what that meant at the time. It wasn't trash and junk, but I still couldn't even handle it. I lasted an hour before I felt like I was having an anxiety attack. Never-ever-ever again. I now happily stay at my neat, clean and organized abode! :)

  6. @LovelyBee: Hoarders is a show that follows people who basically hold on to every single thing in their lives. They do not throw anything away. One woman actually had 2 dead cats in her home that she didn't even realize died because all of her stuff buried them alive. So sad and very gross. She didn't know by the smell that she had dead animals in her home because it smelled so bad. Really sad.

@Jacin & Tami, I really have to pick out the book! I know I will be crying non-stop!

  9. I was thinking about seeing that movie and reading the book. Thanks for the heads-up. And of course, we all guessed you cried while watching it. :D heheee.

We don't get Hoarders over here, but Clean House and similar programs. It is very sad to see how bad it can get. But dead animals, oh no. It's sort of like watching American Idol when all those horrible singers seriously believe they are outstanding. I feel guilty for watching their illness up for display.
