I am not normally a baker ...

My experience is messing up a dessert that is suppose to taste delish.

Imagine biting into a red velvet cupcake that taste like a big ball of nasty. It has happened and I have not wanted to have that experience again.

This weekend, the hubby and I went to a friend's house. Normally it is super easy what we bring. A big bag of Doritos (you can't go wrong with this, don't bother to argue) or chips and dips. We always, always bring one or the other.

This time around the hubs tells suggests that we do something else.

Sean: "Babe, do you know how to make brownies or cupcakes?"
Me: "No, let's just get a bag of Doritos."
Sean: "You really don't know how to bake or are you just saying that because you don't want to."
Me: "Both."
Sean stares.
Me: "Alright, alright. Let's see what they have but if this goes wrong I am going to be pissed."

I pick both brownies and red velvet cake mix just in case I screw up one.

You are probably wondering how in the world a person can screw up something out of the box. Well, I can. This has happened before.

BUT this time around, I baked some delicious brownies and red velvet cupcakes! I think it has to do with the title of wife. You just can't mess things up in the kitchen when you're a wife, lol. I was so proud of myself and took many pictures that way you can see too!

My first batch of cupcakes was not perfect. They were a little tiny but the second batch was perfect!

These cupcakes were part of the perfect club.

Next, I will be baking from scratch. That might take a few years but I know I can do it now! :)

  2. Sweet- I love that you added the sprinkles! Right on!!!! I'm envious of your spice rack in the background (one thing that I still do not own to this day).

  3. Hahaha, Tami! Seriously!

Michelle, the spice rack is one of my most favorite things in the kitchen! You have to go out and get one! :)

  5. YAY! I can bake decently, but any cakes or brownies I do are from a box. I can do cookies from scratch, but I've screwed up many brownies and cookies in my day lol

My go-to food to bring to someone's house is a cheese and cracker platter

I would love to bake from the box as well but too much sugar content for me personallly, so I do my own with Splenda. Things go bad for me too sometimes, but I keep trying. Practice will me your baking perfect :D

I can bake but cooking, my man will starve. He will forever live off chocolate chip cookies and like it when it come to my kitchen skills! :)
