Ice Cream for Lunch is what I Need

The last week has not been the most fun. You know how you’re looking forward to something so much and then within a few hours the whole experience changes.

Well, that’s what happened to us.

We left on the 10th for Vegas and then on the 11th Sean’s aunt passed.

Some smiles or laughs I had I would feel bad. Sean kept on reminding me that his aunt would want us to enjoy our vacation which I already knew but those moments still came when Sean’s mom would break down in tears and I’ll quickly follow. I’m one of those people that if I see someone cry, I begin to cry too.

I attempted to go to work yesterday which was the day of Sean’s aunt burial but then at 9:30am I realized that I should not be at work but with Sean and our family and quickly left. I’m glad I did that.

There was a poem from the funeral that really touched me that I would love to share:

“Fill not your hearts with pain and sorrow, but remember me in every tomorrow. Remember the joy, the laughter, the smiles, I’ve only gone to rest a little while. Although my leaving causes pain and grief, my going has eased my heart and given me relief. So dry your eyes and remember me, not as I am now, but as I used to be. Because I will remember you all and look on with a smile. Understand, in your hearts, I’ve only gone to rest a little while. As long as I have the love of each of you, I can live my life in the hearts of you.”

I’m looking forward to the weekend and next week. I need my routine back.

I’m also looking forward to recapping Vegas next week and being my uplifting self. We all know it’s a lot more fun around these parts when I’m not sad.

I hope you all enjoy your weekends.

xoxo.

  14. I love the poem Faith, it's wonderful and I'm so sorry to hear what happened to Sean's aunt but at least she was well loved by everybody and lived a full life. She sounds like an incredible lady who would have wanted nothing more than for you guys to enjoy your vacation so I'm glad you tried to keep that in mind. Great idea to not go to work as well, you really deserved spending time around your loved ones on such a difficult day.
