Unexpected.

Sometimes life throws the unexpected at you and it isn't easy to accept. The expected is what we want, what we crave. Because too often than not, the expected is more appealing than the unexpected.

But when it's getting colder and all the leaves are falling and the gold and red are fading away, you are thrilled to see the few that are fighting the expected, to stay on the trees in their striking colors. And that's when it hits you that the unexpected can be beautiful too.

All I wanted was a caramel latte (did you know that I absolutely hated coffee and now I kinda like it? i guess the thing about our taste buds changing every 5-7 years may have some truth to it) from the nearest Wawa's when I saw that there were still colorful leaves on several trees. I went back home, brought out my camera, went back to the location and began to take pictures. It saddens me to know that probably within one week the beauty of foliage will be gone, so I'm glad I turned around to capture the beauty surrounding me.

  1. I'm now seriously intrigued to Google this tastebud thing and see if I can learn a bit more about it, maybe there's hope for me that I'll be able to taste an onion without hating it at some point in the future. You're right about the unexpected too Faith, we don't get leaves often as gorgeous and picturesque as these but I have to admit recently I've began to really appreciate the beauty of Autumn/Fall. The best thing about Fall is that it happens just like you say for maybe a month in total then it's gone, unlike other sights that last all year round, makes it more special.

  5. These shots are all so gorgeous!! You're wise to stop and take it all in; life gets so busy sometimes that we forget to enjoy the beauty and serenity in nature. I bet it was so relaxing for you to take this pictures and soak up the beauty of fall. You captured it so well! I really love the red leaves; so, so beautiful.

  12. What beautiful words and gorgeous photos. Fall is the best time of the year I think :)

It can be hard to accept the unexpected and turn it into unexpectedly expected, because things happen in life that we have no control over.

  13. I love the seasons for that reason. Life is always changing, we need to slow down and enjoy the beauty before its gone.

  15. This really hit me today Faith. Unexpected can be ok once you wrap your head around it. And dang, you still have fall. Our trees are looking awfully bare in these parts which is a total bummer. I want it to last long enough for be to eat my turkey with a pretty red tree out the window. If wishes were fishes...

  17. There were some vibrant leaves here too that were fighting. Sadly, they were beaten upon by a mid-Fall snow storm. Lol And, today it's like 50 degrees. The weather is crazy. Pretty photos! Good for you to take the time and indulge.

  20. Beautiful pictures!! It's a winder wonderland outside right now so I'm glad it looks like Fall somewhere else :)
And you'll be glad you took these! One day on a run I took the perfect Fall picture (but seriously. it was pretty perfect considering I don't really have the eye for pictures) and the next day a huge storm came through (hurricane speed winds) and tore alllllll the leaves off the trees! So glad I got that picture!

  27. *vicariously living through you*. These photos are amazing! I'm glad you took time out of your day to run around and get your shutter bug on.

All of our leaves have fallen on my end of things. We got snow and icy conditions last Thursday, and it took the last of the leaves with it. HMPH!
