Date Nights do Matter.

With everything going on Sean and I decided that we needed a date night and we needed it bad. We needed a timeout to make nothing matter but the two of us. We take our date nights rather seriously whether it's to a movie, dinner, staying in for a home cooked meal, watching a couple of movies through Redbox or on Netflix. Whatever really. It's something we both really enjoy so we try to make a point to have date nights often.

At first, with everything going on we decided it wasn't important in the grand scheme of things. We realized quickly how very silly that was of us. It IS important. Working on and being in this relationship is important to us. And so we went out to Melt even though we told ourselves that we'll only go for celebrations since it isn't the type of place one goes to on the regular, at least ones like us. Read it isn't exactly cheap.

The thing is that although it didn't feel like we were celebrating, we in fact were.

We are celebrating this life that keeps us on our toes. This life that can have you in smiles and hyperventilating tears in matter of minutes. This life that you never know what's coming but you pray that it'll be good. But also taking comfort in knowing that if it isn't good, God handed it to you because he knew you would handle it like a boss. This thing we call life is a celebration. So we proceeded to have the most fun on this night, more fun than any date night we've had to date. It was just different because things are different. And although I've shed quite a few tears in the last few weeks, I've also had moments of hope and joy because I realize that no matter what cards we're dealt, we're alive and that is a gift in itself.

  20. Oh no Faith, so sorry to hear about life throwing you some curve balls. I am keeping you, Sean and your families in my prayers. I completely understand not being ready to share. My family was shook to the core a few months ago and I am not sure how to even share that kind of stuff with the blog world.

Thinking of you during this difficult time. Take all the time that you need, once you find a way to heal, it's easier to let other people in.

    Thinking and praying for you.

  21. Oh girl, I am so praying for you, Sean and your families!! Date night is so incredibly important! Marriage is a gift from God and it is the the relationship that needs to be nurtured the most! Life will have so many ups and downs and you two will be able to conquer anything together as long as you stay close! I am learning just how much Eric and I need these date nights as life has been a roller coaster for us the past 2 years, plus having our precious Mia taking up so much of our time!!
I'm so glad you enjoyed a night all about you two!!

  22. I think that we all too often forget to just simply celebrate life in and of itself! Because you are right, we are lucky to just be alive and that is worth celebrating. Giiiirrl, that pizza looks scrumptious! I have never heard of Melt, wonder if there is one in Denver?

  25. Every bit of this is so true, and I needed to hear it today. We are blessed just to be here; life is too short. And time with loved ones is precious and valuable and date nights are a small, but wonderful, way to enjoy that time. Z and I need more of them!

  27. Life lessons. Sometimes they suck monkey balls and sometimes...they suck cow balls. Either way, there's a lesson.

I hate that you're going through what you're going through and there is nothing that we can do from here but to pray for you and yours.

And sometimes, during these times, it is necessary to get out with the ones you love and indulge in some sanity :) being with the ones you love in any atmosphere helps you to cope with bad situations. Togetherness is key <3

    xoxo
