Home Stuff.

So this post won't be the most exciting but I figure why not?

We've been in our house since January and things are moving rather slooooowly.
Finding things that make us go YES! is not happening as often as I would like.

But I'll share a few things that did give us our YES! moments.
I'll take better pictures as the rooms become more complete so I apologize if these aren't that great.

Sean was on Craigslist one evening and found this Duncan Phyfe couch and immediately sent it to me to get my OK.

I saw it and loved it. It was completely different than what I had in mind but as soon as I saw it I just felt like it was the right piece.

We contacted the seller and she advised that it was still there and we made arrangements to see it the very next evening.

She told us that the chair was over 100 years old and that she treated it like gold because it was her first big purchase in the 80s. She advised that she purchased the couch from an estate sale of a wealthy man who had just passed away. She didn't want to give it away but her husband told her it was time as they were downsizing. She seriously had tears in her eyes when she gave it to us but I assured her that we would take care of it. Now if only I can figure out a way to keep the dogs off of it but that's a story for another day!

Finding pillows to go on the couch was my next thing and let me tell you, I went through many pillows.
I finally found an arrangement that feels right but if I'm to be honest who knows how long that will last.
Good thing pillows are relatively cheap and changes the look of a room with just an easy replacement.

Curtains for our bedroom. When I saw them, I knew.
Yeah, who says that about curtains?
Apparently I do.

And the pillows that go on our bed just seemed appropriate since I always tell Sean that he is my sunshine.
If you haven't noticed there is a yellow theme happening around here.

Our kitchen is 85% there. There is that blank wall that is begging for something to be placed on it but we've found nothing yet. I know that when we find it we'll know. Until then, I'm very happy with this artichoke.

You see those dried flowers above the cabinet, on the left? They're from my sister's wedding in 2008.

And for fun here's a before picture of the kitchen.
Not too much difference but there's color now.

OK, that's it for now. I'll share more eventually.

  1. I love the couch and the colors of the pillows compliment that pretty blue perfectly. Your bedroom curtains are nice, too. Your home is really coming along great. I can't wait to see more... :)

(& I said that about my bedroom curtains too... which mean we are either both weird or normal).

I'm still having major couch envy! I love everything you've done with the place Faith (where did you buy the artichoke candle holder?)
