Scenes from Christmas week 2018

Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful time bringing in the new year.

I’ll admit that I haven’t wanted to blog lately and because of that I still have things from 2018 to post. I’ll also admit that I was thinking about just starting fresh but then I quickly scratched that because I know it’s something I’ll regret. Something Emily said that hit me … she wrote about never regretting writing a blog post and she is so right. Even the embarrassing posts from the early days of this blog I don’t regret. So the next few posts will be from a few months ago and I hope that it’ll give me the push I need to get my blogging mojo back. We shall see :)

Christmas fell a little weird this year but I’m not complaining because it gave me four days off in a row! Sean worked on Sunday the 23rd so we did not leave until Christmas Eve to get to Sean’s hometown. Sunday night when Sean got home we exchanged gifts and ordered Chinese food takeout as is our yearly tradition. I see that I did not take pictures and I hope that I behave myself this year. This not taking picture thing is so not me and I don’t like it. Sean probably does though, ha.

We did our Christmas celebrations with Sean’s family on Christmas Eve and was back on the road to Pennsylvania on Christmas day as we both had to work the day after Christmas.

Usually I make lasagna for our Christmas dinner but to be honest I was just exhausted and did not have any desire to make dinner for 10+ people. So we ordered KFC for our Christmas dinner. I hadn’t had KFC in years but if it meant that I could just relax Christmas Eve I was all for it.

Sean and I picked up two gingerbread houses to do with our niece and nephew the day before. Sean decorated with our nephew and I decorated with our niece. It was so much fun and ended up being a competition which of course Nadiyah and I won, ha.

The majority of pictures you see here were not taken by me. Once again, I had no desire to take pictures but I always bring my camera just in case. Nadiyah asked if I brought my camera since I was not taking any pictures. I told her I had so she asked if she could take the pictures. She knows how she is to handle my camera at all times so I agreed and I’m glad that she was able to capture pictures that day.

At some point in the evening, it began to snow and my niece and nephew were so excited to play in the snow. Nadiyah practically forced me go out with them and although I completely had all the wrong footwear this was the highlight of the day for me. It's amazing the joy children find in things like snow and I hope to be more like them :).

We left rather early to get on the road Christmas day and was home by 11am which was great. We actually planned to leave 11am so arriving home at the time we were suppose to leave was awesome. We watched a few movies, took some naps and just relaxed. If I’m to be honest I rather enjoyed a low-key Christmas day. I hope that you all had a wonderful time celebrating as well!

  1. Your niece is a natural with the camera. Low key is good, as long as you're good with it. No need for any additional pressure. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

    1. I completely agree that she is a natural :). Yeah, a low-key Christmas was exactly what I needed. The holidays are not as carefree for me as they once were. Thank you! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year!

  2. I adore these photos (your neice did an amazing job), especially all you guys out in the snow! I'll have to let Dominic go out in it one of these days. We've had a couple snow days already, and I'm too exhausted and cranky to deal with going out there, but he loves it.

Glad I could help ;) But in all seriousness, I don't mind when you post anything or how old this or that happend. I still love to read about your life and see photos.

I wasn't much in a photo mood this Christmas either, mostly because they looked exactly like my Thanksgiving photos, just in different outfits. Sometimes you just don't want to deal and that's okay ;). Your Christmas sounded nice, even if it was low-key.

    1. She really did, I am so impressed with her. The snow pictures are so fun. Yes, you def. have to let Dom go out in it one of these days! We've only had one snow day where we live, def. not complaining.

Thank you for the encouragement :)

  3. Happy New Year! Christmas was low-key for me too. We just ate, they played LCR and we debated, which was so fun because we have gotten away from doing so in the past few holidays. Love the pictures even if you didn't take them all.

  4. Happy New Year! Yes. I see people deleting blogs and starting new ones or deleting entire instagrams and starting new ones and I don't get it. Blogging is the journey of yourself...over time. I see Instagram the same way. Any gaps or anything you posted was part of your journey. Just keep on keeping on.

    1. Happy New Year!

OMGoodness I completely agree! I actually meant starting fresh with posts from 2019 and not posting the ones I have left for 2018 but quickly changed my mind. Reading it I see where you thought that I considered deleting my entire blog. Way too much stuff here for me to delete, I'd be super upset if I ever lost it all. Which is probably why I should probably switch to a wordpress or something ...
