Every year at my church, there are several Christmas trees decorated with paper stars. Each star has a name of a person who is less than privileged. The stars are moms, dads, children, etc. You don't know who they are or what their names are. Some stars indicate what that person wishes to have and some stars have the person's age.
I love choosing by age. I always choose a little child because I can't imagine any child going through Christmas without a gift. I know that gifts aren't the reason of the season but for any child to wake up Christmas morning without a gift to open, hurts my heart.
I chose a new star this year. It is for a five year old girl. This is the first time that my star did not tell me what the need or want is.
This told me a little story about the star I chose. This star would be happy with anything given to her. This star is just hoping for any gift to open on Christmas day. I hope that when she opens her presents on Christmas day this is the smile that brightens her face:
It makes me happy to be able to spread Christmas cheer to someone as precious as a little child. I wish I could do it for all those not fortunate enough, but for now, one person at a time will have to do.
