I just want to decorate.

Do you mind if I whine for a little while?

Thank you.

But wait, why am I thanking you? It is my blog after all.

Any who, I have this strong desire to re-decorate my entire house. I want to change everything. OK, when I say everything, I might be slightly exaggerating, but I would like to change a lot of things.

I have a lot of ideas for this little house of mine. It isn't my dream home but if I am going to be in it for the next 5-10 years, I want it to be decorated the way I want it to be.

It just freaking requires money that we don't have to waste on something so "frivolous". I don't think it's frivolous but hubby thinks it is. I don't get major points in this argument because well, I don't think having stilettos in every color is frivolous. I think it is a necessity. Well, except for white stilettos. I think that is frivolous.

I wish I were crafty. I wish I was a DIY type of gal but I am simply not. I have tried and in the end I just end up wasting even more money because I fail. I just don't have that bone in my body and I have finally accepted it.

I didn't want to accept it in the beginning. I would attempt a project and just want to choke myself after. I finally had enough of telling myself, "I told you so" again and again.

So in the meantime, I will continue to look at blogs with women that are crafty, continue to look at blogs with women that aren't crafty but have the money to redecorate any room in their house that they please. I'll continue to imagine in my mind how awesome my house would look with the ideas I have in my mind.

I have to keep telling myself that there is nothing wrong with redecorating a little at a time. I am just so impatient and I want the house to look the way I want it to look right now!

Good thing the hubby pays no attention to my tantrums because if he did we definitely would have walked out of Marshalls yesterday with a $75.00 mirror that I have no idea where to even place. With all the damn windows in the house it is a wonder that I can even hang anything!

I think it has something to do with the fact that yesterday marked our first anniversary of owning our house and I just felt that I would have been a little closer to having the house the way I want it ...

Lord, give me patience, I terribly need it.

I totally know what you're feeling. I live in a small house that I don't see myself growing old in, however I too see myself here for the next 5-10 years. At least once a week I say something new to my hubby about what I want to do to the house and he just says "it's a waste of money!" He does have a point because the house was bought at the wrong time and the value has gone down, and before we sell we'll have make so many changes to it ($$ :( ) so he thinks the "little" things I want to do (Such as creating a storage closet in my basement) is an unnecessary expense. So instead, I am making do with what I can and just rearranging furniture and painting and little by little I will add a thing here or a thing there to "decorate it." I did see a cute DIY blog posting the other day and though exactly as you did, what a great idea, too bad I suck at things like this!

i can imagine if we own a house one day, i'd be just like you. now i'm in the middle of replacing the frames of all the wall portraits & paintings in our hallway/gallery. hubby doesn't like the cost.

I can definitely relate. I'm an all or nothing type of girl so when I do something, even decorating a room, I'm never satisfied with doing it a little at a time. I need it all. NOW! Lol! Initially my husband let me get away with this but now he's put his foot down and I don't like it! I want a new dining room table so bad that I can taste it! He said no :(

I'm only semi-crafty. I get really annoyed by DIY projects. I've become good friends with spray though. For small things that I can't buy, I'll just spray paint something that I have to give it a new look. This works for a little while but if I want something badly enough no spray will change that! lol!

I can relate so much. I just moved into our new rented house and I have many beautiful ideas in my head, but we don't have the money to decorate how I would to have it. I am going to do it slowly. Having hubbies who are good at overlooking out tantrums is special :). But I have feel ideas I am going to incorporate in my future decorations.

I want to see more DIY blogs, that's were I will learn to be creative when it comes to decorate my house without spending so much :)

I'm right there with you, girl. I want to redecorate and paint, but we just don't have the time or money right now!

Oh honey, I wish I could offer a bit of advice but I can't. I too am stuck because of lack of funds. We bought a fixer upper. A BAD fixer upper. It needs SO much love. We have popcorn ceilings and a trash compactor that doesn't even work. We have gross carpet and windows that leak. Don't even get me started on the bathroom!

Yet we can't afford anything new right now. It's... eating me up. And looking at all these fantastic home decor blogs everyday just adds insult to injury.

It's just NOT FAIR!!

I think your house is beautiful! I remember all the reds and loving them. I know how you feel though- patience is tough- hard to wait for some of the "wants" versus "needs". Also, I'm not very crafty so I understand the fear of wasting money. I can count my successful craft projects on one hand :)

Oooooh Faith, all in due time :) If we lived close by, I would LOVE to come over and design with you! I know I could pull out a DIY'er project within you, I just know it!!!

I wish I were that creative type too. And as far as money I don't have that either. I see so many things I want to buy and can't! We will both have to be patient.

I hear you lady. I don't own my home but would love to freshen up my apartment. Everything will have to wait till after the wedding and still then it must happen slowly. Congrats on owning your home for one year. I'm sure you have a gazzillion home design blogs three that I really like are Design Addict Mom, Two Ellie and Soul Pretty. Happy Decorating! Good Luck!

We don't own our house but I wanted to decorate right away...we've been just going slowly and going room by room.

Faith I feel ya. Money is totally the largest obstacle. I fixed that problem temporarily by selling items we didn't need anymore on Craigslist and then turning around and purchasing what I want. I love to DIY, but I'm at that point in my to-do list whereby I need to buy new items and the money just isn't there. I like to remember the fact that decorating an entire house takes time. If we got it all done so soon we would be bored and ready to change it again. :) It's girl code lol. Don't worry... you have time. Go back and look at all your before and afters. Look at how much you've done already! The painting alone was a huge task..and your house is so gorgeous!

haha girl I know EXACTLY what you mean. I am in a slightly different situation however -- I know we won't be in this house for more than another say 18 months, tops! SO that is what keeps me from going out and buying paint this instant! =)

I know exaxtly how you feel girl. I am in the same boat! We have been in our house for a year this week and there is NOTHING on our walls. Simply because all the things I want I can't afford right now, and when I go to Marshall's I feel the temptation! Sending a hug your way because I feel your pain! Haha! This whole patience thing is not for the birds.

Girl I am going through the same now!!! I have so many ideas but my ideas are so rambled like my thoughts! I am hoping to start soon. I have to save up for other things. I am starting with new bed spreads for all the rooms....it's easier when my husband is here. He likes to buy bed sets...weird lovely man of mine.

lol, I can relate to the fact that I have neither the desire nor the talent for any craft projects. I hate sewing or fixing anything. If I had the $$$ to waste, I would hire my favorite interior designer from HGTV: Sarah Richardson.

I only have a couple of months left in our apartment, and I still want to redecorate it! It's going to take everything I have in me to NOT max out the Crate and Barrel credit card when we move. I have major problems when it comes to decorating/re-decorating, so i feel ya, sister!

I know how you feel! I want to decorate too but we are renting and it would be such a waste of money. I'm dreaming about it a lot... I even bought a book to help me dream. Sigh!
