Last Friday, I traveled to Albany for Colleen's birthday party. Sean had a rugby game on Saturday so he did not arrive until a little over an hour before the party started. I wanted extra time with Colleen which is why I decided to go on Friday vs. on Saturday with Sean.
On Friday, we had dinner at our favorite sushi place (Colleen's treat as "payment" to take pictures on Saturday which I found funny because I was going to take pictures anyway. But I did not argue because free food is high on my list of things I enjoy in life) and then went back to her house. We wrote down a to-do list for the next day to ensure that we got everything that needed to be done, done before the party started.
On Saturday, we woke up bright and early and headed to the nail salon which was a sweet treat by Colleen's husband (thanks Eric!!). We had an early lunch, stopped by the grocery to pick up a few things for the party, went to the mall for accessories and were back at Colleen's house to begin setting up.
By 4:45pm we were set and began to get ready for the party.
Colleen thought of everything for her Goodbye to her Roaring 20s party. Her house was set up as a speakeasy and in order to enter you needed to provide the password that was given to all guest attendees the day before.
On her front door was a sign that read "Closed for Violation of National Prohibition Act by Order of United States District Court. All persons are forbidden to enter premises without order from the United States Marshall".
She had mustaches for the men and long pearl necklaces for the women. She had a small candy station filled with candies made in the 20s.
She also had Girl Scout cookies since they were created in the 20s as well.
The menu was a mix of popular foods in the 20s and Colleen's favorite foods.
Everyone really went all out and dressed up and it was so fun to see everyone in their getups! Seriously, I want to go around dressing like this everyday. Such a fantastic era!
Since I was responsible for taking pictures I took lots of detail shots and of course what everyone wore! I think that anyone who is turning 30 should throw a goodbye to Roaring 20s birthday party! It's such a fabulous idea and who doesn't love getting dressed up?
It was such a fun night and I'm wishing that I could do it all over again. But with these pictures I kinda feel like I can. Excuse the massive amount of pictures but trust me when I say that I actually removed a lot of pictures before posting this, as hard as that may be to believe.
