Since 1998 Celtic Cultural Alliance has held their Highland Games & Festival in my town. Sean said that it is the largest Celtic Festival in North America and I really should google it to make sure his statement is accurate but I won’t because it sounds good ;).
Although, I honestly decided to go for the corn I was really surprised with how much I enjoyed myself. It was pretty neat to be surrounded with men wearing kilts, to witness groups of people Irish step dancing, hear bands play the fiddle and individuals march in a parade playing bag pipes.
It was so enjoyable that my sister decided that she wanted to go twice that weekend and honestly I can’t wait to do this again next year. The vibe surrounding the whole event just felt good and I think Sean (yes, he was there the first night!) really felt encouraged to know more about his Irish heritage.
Friday evening:
Sunday afternoon:
- Until next year, Celtic Fest!

ReplyDeleteI'm loving these posts of your time with your sister. You're making me miss mine. That tee shirt on the guy made me laugh out loud.

ReplyDeleteFirst things first - can you and your sister come style me and my wardrobe?! You ladies always have the best outfits!
ReplyDeleteSecond - what a fun event! And now I need to find this corn that you've spoken so highly of for so long!
I would never think of a 'Celtic' festival as fun, although I'm not sure why since pretty much anything with live music, food, alcohol is almost always fun. I love that your town does a bunch of fun events though (like seriously, it seems like every other week, haha). I'm sure we have stuff going on too, I just need to dig deeper. Love the pictures and I'm glad you two had a wonderful time.
