On our actual anniversary date Sean worked so we didn't do anything besides the "Happy Anniversary, kiss kiss". We haven't exchanged gifts for our wedding anniversary since our first year of marriage. We agreed that we'll do that every fifth year ... 5, 10, 15. I'm sure you get my drift.
We decided that on the weekend we'll do a day trip to Philadelphia. Kind of an anniversary trip, kind of not since we've been wanting to visit Philly for a while. We also decided that we'll have to go again since a day trip doesn't do any city justice.
For some reason, Sean was dead set on going to a museum. He said he did not know if he had ever been to one. I asked, "Not even on school trips?" And he could not remember. I did not mind one bit and to the Philadelphia Museum of Art we went. It was $20 per person for us to get in, so rather inexpensive in my opinion.
I loved the furniture the museum had on display. They just do not make furniture like that anymore. And the art (oil on canvasses) blew me away. Such talent to be able to create such masterpieces with so little. I did not take notes like a good museum goer to share the artist of each piece but I did take pictures of my favorites to share like a good blogger ;).
We took a little break by visiting their cafe and shared a mozzarella, tomato and pesto sandwich which was so delicious. I did not take a picture of it as I was too busy stuffing my pie-hole.
After we ate we continued to view more of what the museum offered.
After the museum we checked out the Rocky statue per Sean's request but he did not want a picture. So I did, naturally.
Then we were off for more sight seeing but not before going back to our car and finding a $36 ticket. All I said to Sean was, "I told you we shouldn't have parked here. Mind you every single time I've ever said that we've gotten a ticket so I've decided I will not say that again. That should definitely do the trick.
We walked around City Hall, Liberty Place, Rittenhouse Square and Fairmount Park. Not nearly enough but there's just so much one can do in a day's visit.
We ended our day trip by going to Nodding Heads for dinner. The lighting was pretty bad so bear with my pictures.
We ordered wings for an appetizer which was really good. For an entree, I ordered a jerk chicken sandwich that had plantains on top and the fries came with onions and jalapeno peppers. Unfortunately, I was not impressed. Sean said it was delicious but I was also having a bellyache so that could explain why I wasn't impressed. Sean ordered a burger that came with an egg on top. He loved it but I didn't try it because I like my eggs cooked through. The service was great though and that always counts for something with me. But like I said, Sean loved both of our meals. He ended up eating mine as well.
We had a great day and enjoyed visiting a new city. I'm excited to visit again which shouldn't be too long of a wait since we're just an hour and 15 minutes away.
I hope that you all had wonderful weekends! Happy Monday! ♥

Philly is one of my favorite cities! Walnut street is the bomb. The H&M in Philly was the first one I had ever been inside since we didn't have it in Texas until recently. It's such a great place to visit! Fun day trip!!!!!
ReplyDeletelovely pictures and those food looks amazing.
ReplyDeletelooks like you guys really had fun.

I love that you guys take trips instead of exchanging gifts. We try to do that too. I'm hoping for a trip to Key West next year! ;) The pictures are gorgeous as always and I the food looks delish!
ReplyDeletePhilly looks awesome! I always think of Will Smith - HAHA I'm side tracked... anyway I love going to art museums, but I do not like discussing each thing I look at for 10 minutes (my mother does this). I agree the craftsmanship of those days are amazing. Your meals look delicious- sorry you had a tummy ache though. Are you and Sean going to check out Pittsburgh next or other small towns in Pennsylvania ?
ReplyDeleteI love Philly! Glad you had a great time. I'd be lying if I didn't admit that I was hoping to see a gooey picture of a philly cheesesteak so I could drool at work. BUT you had a stomach ache... so I'll let you off the hook.
ReplyDeleteI also have a picture of the ballerina statue somewhere in a folder of museum pictures... :)
Love the pics!! Glad you guys enjoyed Philly. Next time, run up the steps :) Also, the Art Museum is free on Sundays (or it was) and maybe Wednesdays (but you can donate money to the Museums) and behind the museum there's a restaurant called the water works which overlooks Kelly Drive. It's a really pretty spot to dine.
ReplyDeletea photo by the rocky statue is obligatory, from what i understand, when visiting philly.
ReplyDeletehappy you had a great time.
happy anniversary!
:)

I'm so impressed by these photos, you have no idea! You're getting better and better every time.
ReplyDeletePhilly looks like a gorgeous city! It's definitely on my list of places to visit. That sucks with the whole parking ticket. Hey, it could have been worse. Your car could have been towed and taken to a lot that you have no idea about like the idiots here do.
I'm glad you two enjoyed yourselves.
*cue in Eye of the Tiger* I'm out!
xo
What? no heels!!!
ReplyDeleteI love that you spent your "anniversary" at a museum amongst so much beauty and history! What a fantastic idea (stealing it!!) It's kind of funny because M and I did something somewhat similar this weekend!! I hope your stomach is feeling better xo
ReplyDeleteDay trips are the best!! $20 is a bit pricey for a museum -- but then again I'm use to all the free museum's in NYC. Philly is a lovely city isn't it!? I want to go visit, I haven't been in so long.
ReplyDeleteBTW, your sandwhich looks DELICIOUS. I'm sorry it didn't sit well with your stomach. Maybe it was the Jalapeños?! they always mess me up too!
This weekend was our anniversary also!
happy anniversary!! what a great day. there is so much to do in philly!!!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great anniversary weekend! I haven't been to Philly in a few years and would love to go back. Major bummer that you got a ticket, though!
ReplyDeleteSounds like so much fun. I went to Philly once and it was a fun city. We were there for a few days, so i definitely think you need to go back to see more places. Its so historical its awesome!
ReplyDeleteK
Aww.... What an increadibly fun day!!! That museum looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI love your post!
ReplyDeleteThe pictures are super cute! And food hmmmmmmmm :p

I've been to Philly once before but it was just for One day.Your food looks delicious and it looked like a fun day.
ReplyDeleteI've heard on Sunday mornings the art museum doesn't charge admission, just a donation of your choosing! Your pictures as always are so pretty, glad you enjoyed Philadelphia!
ReplyDeleteso much fun! i haven't been to a museum in forever!
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to go to Philadelphia. I love all your pictures! And I love your post title. One of my favorite shows! When Eve was first born, I watched it on Netflix on many a sleepless night.
ReplyDeletehappy anniversary! here's for many more anniversaries to come! oh, philly in fall... how pretty!!! i really miss philly :)
ReplyDeletePhilly is definitely a sunny place to be. beautiful pictures
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to spend your anniversary!
ReplyDeleteTotally love that you agreed to only do gifts every 5th anniversary. I'm suggesting this to the hubby. :)
What an awesome anniversary trip. Happy Anniversary!!!
ReplyDeleteThe food pics made me salivate! :-)
Mj loves those burgers with the egg on top. I definitely like mine cooked too so I never try his. Bummer about the $36 ticket. What a fun trip! We don't do anniversary gifts really at all! But every 5 is a nice idea.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fantastic trip! Can't believe you managed to do all of that in one day! I don't think I've ever been to Philly... looks like a wonderful city to visit. I love the colorful lanterns hanging along that walkway, so lovely!
ReplyDeleteI adore philly, I would totally move there if my mom (aka free babysitting) wasn't located here :) The food looks so yummy. I love that museum!! Now you have me wanting to plan a day trip :)

Happy Anniversary! ha ha it's such a coincidence that your post is about philly! My roommate just asked me about a Philadelphia key-chain that I have! Lol This food looks so good!!! I'm drooling!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary. Your pics made me realize that I have not been to that museum in a very long time. Glad that you guys got to enjoy Philly.
ReplyDeleteI am so happy that you are enjoying your time in PA. I knew you would make the best of any situation :).
ReplyDeletePS - I love that show it's always sunny in Philadelphia. Good choice.
Looks so good. What a beautiful city ~ looks like there is a lot of neat things to do. I'm so happy for you! Love all of your pics, my friend!
ReplyDeleteoh wow...everything looks amazing. and the meal..delicious. those shoes are soo cute that you are wearing! happy anniversary...many many more years to come!
ReplyDeletehappy anniversary! you guys are so laid back about things, it reminds me a bit of me & jay! that's cool you went to a museum, my kind of afternoon, and i agree they don't make furniture like they used to. which is probably one of the reasons antiques cost a fortune!!
ReplyDeletePhilly looks gorgeous! So many fall colors going on! The museum looks like it was alot of fun, and yes, that furniture is gorgeous! Glad y'all had fun and jealous you live so close! Also, the title of this post is perfect. Have you ever seen that show? I love it.
ReplyDeleteHow did I never know how beautiful Philadelphia is?! The architecture, the autumn leaves, those lanterns...! All gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteAlso- bravo for taking Sean to his first museum! Haha
Cool art! I love museum trips, and that chair on the right is lovely. I prefer my eggs cooked all the way through too. Sucks because, every time I watch a cooking show, a part of me always wants to try that dish that has a bright yellow, runny egg on top, just to see what it tastes like.
