South Beach Numero Uno

The first place Sean and I ever traveled together (that required a plane) was to South Beach. To this day, we are not entirely sure why we decided on South Beach but I'm thinking that we gave it quite some thought. We began officially dating in February 2007 and December 2007 we took our first flights together to Miami. That trip began our need to visit as many places as possible together. I have to laugh when I think back to how naïve we were for our first trip. We budgeted only $400 dollars total for 5 days in South Beach! If you know anything about South Beach, you'll know that it is EXPENSIVE! I still have no idea how we did it because when I look back on it we did everything we wanted.

Oh yes! We did find $100 on the sidewalk so I'm thinking that was God's way of helping us out a bit. But yes, $500 budget for 5 days is a BIG stretch (and please budget more if you ever plan on visiting) but we had the best time.

We enjoyed it so much that we decided we'll go every few years. We went again in November 2011 a bit wiser and had a great time regardless of the horrible weather we had that trip. After that visit we knew we would go again, we just did not have a when.

The when came almost 3 years later....

As soon as we arrived we checked into our hotel, National Hotel. This was our gorgeous view.

We decided to check out the hotel and get something small to eat at the pool bar.

There's a lot more to come because y'all know I took one million and one pictures.

  7. I'm glad you two went on your trip <3
South Beach looks absolutely stunning. I can hardly believe you two made it the full week on 400-500 dollars the first time either ;) . Why does vacationing always have to be so pricey? Excited to see the rest!

  19. Being a Miamian (if that's even a word!) I know how crazy expensive Miami and the money suckers that could be South Beach! If you ever want some insider scoop, let me know! I love my city and love touring it myself!
