Chicago - Day 2

When we woke up we were excited to see that there was sun peaking through the window. The day called for rain and since we had plans to go to a Cubs' baseball game we were hoping it wasn’t true. We got ready and then took the subway down to the game. We arrived a few hours earlier that way we could get some food and drinks and just enjoy the experience.

It was such a fun vibe down there. Everyone in their getups, the warm weather and just the excitement on most people’s faces. We walked until we found a couple of bars that we thought fit the atmosphere (no frill, just chill) we wanted and ended up at the rooftop of a bar. I wish I could remember the name of it but this is what happens when you just go with the flow and don’t plan in advance. It wasn't Irish Oak Pub & Grill. If it were only that easy ;). After a good two hours we left and headed for the game.

We had nosebleed seats which I actually liked once we got up there, ha. Although we were quite high I could see everything and when it started to downpour which it did, we were protected! We had a roof and that was seriously the best thing ever because those with the better seats did not have a roof and were all running for protection from the rain during the game.







The Cubs ended up winning which was fantastic. They played against the Phillies and to be honest it did not matter to me who won but it was nice that they won on their home turf. If it’s not the Yankees playing any team can win, ha.

After the game we took the subway back downtown and walked around prior to heading to the Cloud Gate also known as the Bean. Not too soon in our walk did it start to downpour and luckily Tavern at the Park was just a few feet away so we dashed inside for a drink. My drink was delicious but can't say anything about food since we did not eat there.










Once the rain let back up we made the short walk to the Cloud Gate. Let me just tell you how excited I was! I’ve been wanting to see the Bean forever. Everyone also wanted to see it so it wasn’t the easiest getting great pictures but I loved the experience.

It felt so good to finally see it with my own two eyes.











We walked around Millennium Park for a little while longer before deciding to get dinner at Mr. Brown’s Lounge.








For my starter, I ordered a beef patty that came with coco bread and for my entrée I ordered jerk chicken with rice. Sean ordered a starter that came with mac and cheese, plantains and jerk chicken wings. For his entrée he ordered a jerk chicken sandwich and wow, it was all so, so good but if you don’t enjoy spicy food you might not enjoy it. For us, it was amazing! Apologies for the dark pictures below. Natural light is everything.

After dinner, we went to our hotel to get ready for the night and went to She-Nannigan's House of Beer in the Gold Coast. What a fun environment, completely different than the night before. Keep in mind this isn't a fancy place (some might even call it a dive bar) just a place to have a drink, listen to fun music and have a good time. They had great music playing of all genres, basketball (which Sean and I played) and beer bong. It was seriously a fun night and we really enjoyed ourselves.

And then after a long night of dancing we were back at Mr. Brown’s Lounge because sometimes you just want mac and cheese and beef patties at 3 in the morning. It's surprising that we were able to get up early the next day but this was an important day because I was meeting a blog friend for the first time!
