Thank you to the men and women who sacrificed it all to ensure that each day
I can wake up and live a life full of freedoms that so many do not have.

I'm the biggest advocate of three day weekends. Two day weekends are just not enough.
It's amazing how much better you feel on Sunday when you know you have an additional day off.
The weather forecast completely threw us off. We had plans leading up to the weekend but then the weather forecast had us believing that we were going to have non-stop rain all weekend. Last Thursday, the plans I made with Cinthia were scratched because they were all outdoor activities. Then Saturday arrives and it is a beautiful day! I called Cinthia to see if we could do what we planned and unfortunately because we thought we would be indoors all weekend she had just started painting her upstairs.
So, Sean and I decided to go to the farmers' market for breakfast sandwiches and to pick up a few things for us to grill that evening. I got my baguette from my favorite local bakery and found a majestic palm that we knew would go perfect in our sitting room.
Saturday evening, we listened to live music downtown. Every weekend, all summer long, our town holds free live concerts and we try to make as many as we can before the summer is over. I'm one of those people who can listen to pretty much anything (I draw the line on country) so I tend to always enjoy myself at these things.
We were pretty productive this weekend so I'm not too mad about the weather forecast.
Sunday was another beautiful day but we had plans to do some housework. We cleaned up the patio and deck furniture, did a little painting over scruff marks, meal prepped and binged on Bloodline. We both hated the end and to be honest I'm still confused.
On Monday, the weather forecast was finally right. It rained all day. I grocery shopped for the week, did some light housework and baked mac and cheese for dinner at the request of Sean. I wish it were one of those things I could make often. It is so delicious and easy to make! It was one of those weekends that I felt relaxed enough that work the following day did not produce that "ugh" feeling.
Our breakfast sandwiches being made.
How was your long weekend? Happy Wednesday!
Love that palm! I'm glad you were able to make the best of the crazy weather forecast! We did the same thing, changed our plans around due to the predicted rain, and then Saturday and Sunday were lovely! Oh well, we still had fun! I had Friday and Tuesday off too, so getting back in the swing of things today was really tough!!
ReplyDeleteThat market looks like so much fun! Our weather kept changing too and thankfully worked out with only one day of rain. Glad you had a good time. Beautifully Candid
ReplyDeleteI gain more weight looking at your blog ;) I want that mac n cheese recipe!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you on the 3 day weekends. Who came up with this work 5 days a week business !?
I love your majestic palm- I too love free outdoor concerts, I don't really care about the genre either but AMEN to no country. I just don't have it in me to listen to it. Your weekend sounds like perfection & I loved all the photos.
I fully agree, three-day weekends should just be a permanent things.
ReplyDeleteYour weekend sounds like the perfect mix of productive and relaxing. And, how do you always have the most amazing food?!!
Nice! That is a huge baguette! The mac and cheese looks great! Sorry your plans for Saturday didn't go so well. But it looks like you had a great time nonetheless.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun weekend! The weather here has been super sketch and it was actually gloomy most of that weekend. I had no plans, so it didn't bother me. I enjoyed a lot of relaxation time and it was great.
