I know that I am rather late posting this but I had a busy week which kept me from blogging about our 4th weekend. I know it's lame to post about something so last two weeks ago, but this blog is somewhat of a journal so ...
We had Sean’s family come in that Friday afternoon to celebrate the 4th. Sean grilled and we had a simple barbeque in our backyard. Soon after we ate, I took my niece to the mall to go shopping. We had the best time and she got some really cute outfits.
After shopping I took her out to get froyo because, how else do you end a great, warm day?! It was her first time with the whole froyo experience and she loved it. I love being an aunt so much and now that she is older it makes it a little more fun to do things that don’t require her mom being around. You would think that I would have remembered to take pictures of our little outing, but no.
When we got back to my house Sean had purchased about $100 worth of fireworks and was just beginning his firework show. .
It was such a blast and I have to admit that Sean did a pretty great job (although I did think he was going to burn his fingers off at some points). Our niece and nephews were going crazy with excitement and it was just so much fun to watch.
Saturday, the 4th, Sean woke up early and made a delicious breakfast of bacon, eggs and bagels for everyone. We initially had plans to go to Dorney Park but the rain derailed our plans. At the last minute we decided to go to Crayola Experience since my niece and nephew loved it so much when we took them last. Not surprisingly, our niece and nephews loved it! To be honest, we all did and we still did not get to complete everything that it has to offer which just means that we'll be going again in the future.
Sean and I skipped out for half an hour to get some drinks and pick up a few things at the farmers' market before heading back.
Since we had plans to do the firework show at Dorney Park we had to do some quick researching to find a place that was going to be doing a firework show. We tried out one spot which was about 30 minutes from our house but were not convinced (although the kids did stop at the ice cream truck and the ice cream truck guy asked for me to take a picture of him!) and ended up going to a place not even 10 minutes from our house.
It was the best spot to find. They had food vendors everywhere and we were able to find seating together.
Sean's mom bought churro sticks that were incredible and I've been dreaming about them ever since. Need it in my life soon.
They left the next afternoon and it felt strange for a few hours that the house was so quiet and that our nephews were not running like maniacs up and down the stairs. It was such a great time and I can't wait to do it all over again, next year!

Fireworks is such a great way to end a beautiful day. Looks like a fun weekend.
ReplyDeleteYour niece and nephew are growing up so fast! I didn't even leave the house on July 4th. At all. So it's definitely nice to see something refreshing :)
ReplyDeleteFireworks still scare the crap outta me when they're loud but they're so pretty!
ReplyDeleteYour nieces and nephews are growing up so beautifully! OMG I feel old haha
Love that you guys came together to celebrate. Looks like you all had a great time.

Sounds like a wonderful 4th of July! I love fireworks!
ReplyDeleteYour 4th sounds like it was perfect - even with the rain.
ReplyDeleteI know I said this the first time you posted about it, but that Crayola Center looks so cool.
And, woah, your fireworks photos turned out awesome!!
How on earth do you take pictures of fire works?! I couldn't figure it out, I'm lame. Anyway, I love that you took your niece out, I'm sure she found that to be really fun. Beautiful pictures, and I'm glad you had a good 4th.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a blast. I'm so glad that sean put on a good firework show and kept all of his fingers! Those things scare me. They have always been illegal where I live so I don't even think I've ever seen a person set them off. Your niece and nephew are getting so big!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great time. It is always fun when family and fireworks are around
ReplyDeleteAwesome weekend! You got some great shots of the fireworks! And how fun that Sean did his own little fireworks show. Even though the backyard fireworks make me nervous it's always so much fun! :)
ReplyDeleteI wanna that Afro...so much fun!
